You do learn something new every day! Helpful and appreciated replies from all. I'm really enjoying this Viv lens; have nothing that comes close to it overall in my small collection of AF zoom lenses.

Hello!
I recently obtained a very nice Vivitar Series 1 70-210 f2.8-4.0 manual focus (Komine) lens. I held out for one with the "A" setting and was fortunate to finally find one.
I'm having trouble getting and keeping the solid green in-focus indicator light on my K20D. I get it, it blinks away, I get it again - it blinks away again! I set the camera to manual focus mode, "P" on the dial, and the lens into the "A" position. It's been a challenge to obtain the right focus (occurs in Av and other camera modes, too).
Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Thanks mgvh. You are correct, it's the 80-200 SZ-X. I'll leave the pin as is and read up now on catch in focus with the K20D.

Hi all!
Brand new here and very glad to see some very helpful and informative info on Pentax/Ricoh gear.
I'm awaiting delivery of a Tokina 80-300 SX-Z f1:4.5-5.6 lens (52 mm filter; read some very good reviews here before purchasing). I'll be using it with my trusty K20D. This will be my first non-DA lens.
The lens appears to have either a Ricoh brass pin or nub on the mount. I've read a bit about the possibility of that pin/nub becoming lodged in the AF slot of some cameras. That would not be good, so prior to mounting the lens on the K20D, should I remove it? I ask because in all the reviews here, I didn't see any mention of the pin issue.
Thanks!
