I've been listening to my band, The Jetsonics. Here is a video we made just this week for our song 'Burn! Burn! Burn!'

K100ds: best DSLR ever, or greatest DSLR ever?

I have nothing with which to compare it, but I know I'd like movie mode and live view and 10MP for a bit of crop room if necessary. I think the pics it produces are great though. Why am I seeing love for the K-X and not for the K-7? I think I need to read around here. Some early adopter problems?

I think the Body, Battery Grip, 18-55, 55-200 text that you are highlighting there is just referring to weather sealing isn't it?

The main body of the text says 'Over 100 dust and weather seals**' and the two asterisks ** are then referenced in the small print. So I think they are simply saying the body, the grip, the 18-55 and the 55-200 are all weather sealed and have 100 dust seals.

:hmm:

So the photo above is actually 3 layered shots. Each shot was a 15 second exposure. This gave me time to run round the car with my bare strobe in my hand (so to speak) and fire it at strategic places. The orange glow from the left of the photo is a street light. I layered those 3 shots in photoshop. Cloned out a telegraph pole and adjusted the curves a touch.

My 100D was a factory refurb. That's a £189 camera with a £20 flash from eBay :-)

Appreciate all your kind comments.

Had a Sigma 70-300 return in stock yesterday. Macro. Not the APO version (I don't think). £39. Give them a call to make sure it's still there before making the trip. I was going to get it - then decided I didn't need it.

FARCE. What a complete nonsense this thing is. Where I work I sometimes take my camera out at lunch and the security team on the business park come running up to you to ask what you are taking photos of. They don't quite know why they are asking. They just know they have to ask. It's a photo of a leaf. Honestly if you were taking photos for anti-security purposes then you wouldn't use a big SLR would you? Wouldn't you discretely snap and movie with your mobile to your ear or something. WTF are we coming to here??? Idiots.

I have a Cosina 28/2.8 ... it's fantastic! I bought it for about £7 on eBay. The focus ring is a bit stiff and jerky though. Stiff and jerky? Yes, i think so. I don't think it's just the feel of it - it actually feels gunked up. Nonetheless pictures from it look great.

I think it's a brand that Jessops (the UK camera shop) sold a while back in the 80s. Photos (from someone else's listing) are here (mine is PX (Pentax)rather than CN (Canon). Here are the main controls, then round the other side is a switch for white/blue/yellow. Full/half/quarter power?:

I think you're right in that a volt meter is the way forward.

Anyone have a user guide for this flash? I saw one on line for £8. £8!!! Farce.

Centon FG30D flash with K100DS

I have a Centon FG30D flash that I've not yet put on my camera. I have no manual for it (if anyone does - would be helpful) but I've read that the voltage of the flash is ~200v. 200v!? that sounds ridicuolous to me. How can that be? Anyway, question is can I use it wiht the K100DS (without breaking it!). If the voltage is really 200 then I don't think so, but then again I have read on another forum of a chap using it with a K10 and an *istD.
The one I have is Pentax dedicated so maybe the voltage is slightly different in that model. (Dedicated for Pentax with TTL and not my P-TTL K100DS (I know that much) so I was planning on using it manual).

Any help appreciated.

EDIT: the quoted ~200v is for an FG30, but for an FG30DX (not sure how that relates to my FG30D) it's much less. More around 3-6v.

Good work with this great forum! Can I ask for another change. In the marketplace it would be nice to see UK sale items split from the rest of the stuff. Or at least USA split up. then it would be easier to search by loaction. Maybe even ask people to specify country in their item description title?

DA15/4 pictures from Ned-B

I read DA15/4 and thought that sounded exciting. Then I saw the pics and it reminded me that it's the opportunity, the photographer, the composition, the light that make good pictures. Not the lens. This looks like it could have come from a camera phone. Just a snap, as my Grandad would have said. Although I'd still like to own the lens. I'm glad I am reminded now and then that there's (far) more to it.

Like the first page of examples on this thread https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/24545-why-i-lo...mm-f1-4-a.html ranging from high end fashion to a picture of some sand. The lens may help. But it won't get you there on its own.

I really like your first photoshopped example. Before a pretty dull photo of some houses and the sea. Transformed into an engaging view. The boldness and contrast are great. You made a snap into a picture. It looks 'overcooked' to just the right degree. So my answer to your question is: yes, it does look photoshopped, but it's just the right amount :-)

On the other hand, the other poster's picture of the smooth skinned sparkly eyed baby is just way too much for my liking. I can certainly understand how some people would like it and pay money for shots like that. I'm not all about looking natural, but that baby pic is too much for me. Babies and chldren especially should be allowed to look at least a little natural.
EDIT! That said, ll_coffee_lP...I just had a look at your site (mephotography.net) and really liked all your other shots and processing there :-) I guess it was just the baby pic that didn't appeal.
