Hey all - I finally decided to post. I have lurked here with one account or another for about 6 years since I bought my first Pentax.
I picked up a k100d in 2009 with the kit 18-55 lens. I went to grab a Sigma 70-300 and a manual Pentax 50/1.7 within a few months and put about 19,000 frames through it. The camera sat on the shelf for a while, was held hostage by my ex-wife for a while, and then finally returned to me. With a new-found desire to learn the science behind photography, I set out and quickly realized that there were a few features that I was missing in the k100d. I grabbed a K-x, which although of similar vintage to the k100d, had a couple of advancements that I recognized and appreciated. Now with photography burning a hole in my soul, I found a great deal on a K-5 with only 8,000 clicks for $255 on eBay. I had to have it and I feel like I'm at a nice plateau with my camera and my skills now. I think I have enough camera to last me a long time, and I sold the older bodies to make up the money for the K-5 so it's a wash!
Anyway - Thanks for lots of information over the years. I have read and utilized many lens reviews before making purchases and I really appreciate the place!
Thanks!
