Looking good, Jean!

I 'think' I successfully ordered one of those Malik's off a French ecommerce site called PriceMinister but all the comm has been in French so I don't really kn ow what's going on! It freaked out my credit union but I let the transaction go through, so will see what arrives in the mail, if ever...

Took some test pix with the ColorPlan - great infitnity focus and bokeh potential. Plenty of CA and will benefit from an aperture I'm sure.

Keep the Projector Club flame going, Jean. I'll get more serious when I've got the time. Room addition is top priority at the moment...

Since the gap from the cut off lens barrel to the body's bayonet mount is only a few mm's I can't make use of a focus helicoid. But it can reach infinity, so I'm attempting to use Velcro 'loop' wrapped around the CP barrel to slip mount it into a 1.5" PVC plumbing coupling that's JB Welded on an M42>Sony A mount adapter - if it will remain light tight I should be able to focus from ~10-15 feet to infinity before putting it on a bellows for closeup/macro use.

Not moving as fast you might wish as I am also in the middle of a room addition on my house. A few too may irons in the fire at the moment...

Audi & Jean - just wanted say I jammed my Colorplan into my Russian bellows after wrapping it with some butyl tape to get an idea of what it'll do at a close focus distance - like it a lot! Will need to cut down the barrel to reach infinity and find a collar of some sort to take up the gap in the bellows opening. Pretty image quality from what little I saw, though. Thanks again for help and encouragement to shoot with theses optics. I enjoy the strange response I get from a photog friend who already looks at me a little funny as it is! He doesn't have the adventurous spirit some of us are plagued with...

One day later: Well, I shortened the CP right up the rear element (went well, BTW - no damage) and it will barely work as an infinity lens with just a ~4mm gap to the flange that I'll not likely find a helicoid to fit within. By the time it gets on my bellows I've lost all that sweet range for tighter portraits, room scenes and the like. I'll get back if/when I find a solution...

Thanks again Audi for your insights - I assume you had to shorten the ColorPlan barrel to make all your mechanical mods work, right? What is your total length on that buildup of parts to mount this optic? I'll look for an aperture to place in front of the lens as you have - it apparently works quite well.

Still waiting to hear from Jean on his configuration - this is the hard part for us less enlightened group!

Jean - can you kindly shoot a pic of your Colorplan/Rusky bellows setup for us? I'm assuming you may have cut the barrel down on the CPlan - I have these components and would like to 'do it right' the first time. A list of your mounting hardware, etc. would be a godsend to us newbies trying to follow the masters of this quaint art.

PS: Meant to also ask if you've tried any 'apertures' with the ColorPlan? Seems a good good candidate - I'll give it whirl once I get mine mounted up properly.

Many thanks!

Here's a coupla pix from a trip to Road Atlanta several years ago.

Dunno anything about the Alfa but the Jaguar is one of a pair raced by David Gilmour and Nick Mason of Pink Floyd. Gilmour's car was totaled at some point and Mason's car continues to live with its current owner.

Specifically, one of the two matching Jags raced by Pink Floyd members David Gilmour and Nick Mason - Gilmours was totalled at an event. Here with its current owner at Barber Motorsport Park in Leeds, Alabama.

Got the idea of trying to compress a 3D scene into a 2D image while walking around downtown Knoxville, a bit of a visual wasteland, unfortunately. Tried to make it visually difficult to determine distance between subjects - tell me what you think...sorry I don't have EXIF info.

Yup - that furious bokeh is the reason to get these Russian gems - and they're so cheap!

Uploaded some pix into an Album and here's the first of hopefully many samples...really appreciate the effort made to learn these oddball lenses by forum members - and the awesome results being made. I've gotten rather attached to the little Russian Vega 100/3.5 enlarger lens - all the photos here were taken with it - but am also looking forward to this new projector lens paradigm of super shallow DoF and bokeh potential. Thanks again to Marko for his patient advice. I'll have some Smokey Mountain photos in a few months with some attempts at landscapes if these optics will perform at all at infinity.

Same here - great stuff and a strong reminder to use a short tele for people pix. I have a number of the better Taks: 105/2.8, 135/3.5, 200/4, 28/3.5, both macros, etc. I have a photo opp to shoot a local troupe doing two Shakespeare plays concurrently for 4 weeks - great opp to shoot/reshoot with a variety of lenses, video, etc. Will post some results as they come in...

Like the Gladiolus pic. Looks promising but we will be patient until your creative genius discovers more illustrious results!

Ordered the parts needed for a M62.5 > M42 conversion on the PK35 140mm projector lens - with a M65 helicoil et al, thanks again to your parts list contribution. Found them a tad cheaper on AliExpress than at RAFCamera - same part and all.

To date I have that behemoth, a Leica Colorplan and the Diaplan to start working with. Will likely take them to the Greast Smokey Mountains National Park for a day of shooting.

Am still quite taken by the images I can get using the Russian Vega 100/3.5 enlarger lens. Look up Brian Patterson from Powell, TN on Facebook - all the garden and flora shots are taken with this awesome little optic.
