Thanks for the information photogem. It seem I may have lucked out. I turned off the auto shutoff and put a fully charged battery in and left the camera on overnight and then repeated the same again the next day. It seem to have charged the cmos battery. Thanks again.

So if I'm understanding this correctly on the KS-2 you do have to unsolder the connection? I can't just simply replace the battery itself?

Nice shot. I've never shot at Kensico but live close to the Croton Dam and go there quite a bit.

Thanks photogem for updating the thread, I meant to post an update myself. . I left my ks-2 sitting on my table in the basement for about a week after making the repair and when I started using it again it is now working fine. Go figure??
Magic I guess.

I don't believe so. When I removed the old ones I left the wires long so as to not confuse them and soldered them one st a time.

This is a shot just after turning on the camera. (183117jpg)
The darker one is just after the 1st shot. The display is dark so my cell phone was unable to focus that's why the information displayed is blurry. (183145jpg)
The last one is after pressing RAW/Fx button and it returns to normal. (183215jpg)

It's the optical viewfinder that's the problem. When I switch to live view its works fine. I think that something is out of sequence.
I was hoping to get it to work to pass on to my son. Looks like he'll have yo wait for me to pass down my KP when or if I upgrade in the future.

It is set to optical preview.
If i switch to live view and take a shot it works fine.

So I disassembled my old non working ist-dl and removed both of the white solenoids to repair the aperture block on my KS-2. All seemed to be fine but now when I turn on the camera and take a shot it's fine but the viewfinder screen gets dark. If I push the RAW/Fx button it seems to reset and works properly for the next single shot but I have to push it before every shot. Also if I take a few burst shots they all come out fine but after the last shot I have to push RAW/Fx to reset again. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas what may be causing it?

I have a Samyang 16mm f2.0 lens for my KS-2 and when I mount it I'm asked to input a focal length. My closest options are 15mm or 18mm. Which is best or does it not matter?

Thanks for the tips. I do have the Rokinon 16/f2 I've used with my KS-2. That body has the dreaded aperture block failure problem so I'm now trying to decide what's next for me.
The Rokinon 16/f2 and the 14/f2.8 are also good.
