January 2018 update. Problem returned this month and body had to go back for a second time to have the circuit board replaced. How many times does the problem have to recur before I can reasonably expect a replacement body?!

As an update - camera was repaired by Pentax with a turnaround of a couple of weeks. The problem was a faulty circuit, they also cleaned the sensor and focusing screen. Good as new. Thanks for all your suggestions and interest.

Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I've been on here a while but now just finding my way around. I've been a bit busy with photography but as my K3ii is in for repair it's seems a good opportunity to have a look round here and introduce myself. The lens database is awesome and has been invaluable for researching glass options. Current lenses are 15 ltd, F28 and DA*50-135. Really looking forward to seeing how the new 11-18 f2.8 performs when it's released. I'd quite like to also get my 50-135 converted to screw drive but it can't be done on the K3ii body. It's not that the SDM doesn't work but it's slow and unresponsive in anything other than good light. If anyone could help me do the convert I would be really grateful. Happy to pay someone who has the right body and who knows what they're doing! Anyway thanks for reading and hope to get to know some of you soon. Simon

The shop has sent it to Pentax today after inspecting it. They said it's a hardware problem. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Thanks for all the suggestions. An update to the problem....camera identifies all cards in SD1 slot as locked so no write or read and no shutter operation if just using SD1 slot.
Definitely a hardware failure or foreign body that I can't see/find without damaging slot.
Decided to returning to shop as still under 2 year warranty....they will send to Pentax UK and it will no doubt be weeks before I have it back. No other bodies so no photography for me for a bit!

Tried it. Zip, zilch, de nada! Seems like a hardware failure as Adam suggested. Poor show really as I got the camera for it's supposed ruggedness. Beginning to think I made the wrong choice.

Cheers Adam. No debris. When you say full reset is that a reset from the menu? Tried that. Still no joy. The orange lamp flashes when the card is inserted and the flu card will do its beeping noises but the icon still flashes on lcd screen and it won't write to SD1. It's a real pain but I guess I'll have to live with one card slot only. Too much hassle to send back for such a minor problem.

Hi all, the SD card slot 1 on my k3ii isn't working. The icon on the LCD display for SD1 continually flashes and camera won't write to any card in that slot. SD slot 2 works fine but I used to keep main card in 1 and Flu card in 2. Anyone had this problem or know if there's a fix? Can't seem to find anything related anywhere. Kind regards, Semwez
