I had the first version of this lens and was not happy with it. noisy and slow. but this version should be good. i would buy it had i not ordered a sigma 17-70mm macro.
so, potential buyers, snap it up!

by that, do you mean the RGB settings? also, since in Windows the colours look ok to me, should I calibrate my monitor? shouldn't it be an internal software thing in photoshop and elements?

Hi,
Whenever I open Photoshop Elements 7.0 or Adobe Photoshop CS3, I get this message
'The monitor profile "Dell SP2309W" appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software'
and I'll have two options to choose from - 'Ignore Profile' and 'Use Anyway'
I find that the colours when using the two software, are a bit different to when I view the photos using Windows.
What should I do?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Does anyone know if the CTR-301P flash trigger from eBay is compatible with the Metz 48 AF-1 flash unit?
Cheers!

does anyone know what's the cause of the problem i'm having? it's weird how when i'm 'focusing' directly on the flash, it won't show in the photo (even though in reality the flash did fire)

setting the on-board flash as a controller instead of a master doesn't make a difference. if i focus 'directly' on the flash, the light still wont show in the exposure for some weird reason or another (see photos in my previous posts).

i think the Metz can only act as a P-TTL wireless slave anyway.

ok yet another thing to add:
it seems that as long as the built in flash does not 'flash' directly onto the front part of the Metz flash head
not visible
visible
visible
visible
not visible
this is still visible
but focus up a bit and it's not visible
note that in all instances, the flash actually did fire, but depending on where i focus or where i point, it will or will not show in the exposure.

Here are the results:
1. Yes flash fires.
2. It seems like both flashes fire twice. The first flashes might be the pre-flash. After 2 seconds, both flashes fire again. And yes, i can see the Metz firing.
BUT it seems in BOTH situations, whenever the flash unit is IN frame at all, i cannot see the flash firing. But if i put it out of frame (ie. not in the composition) i can see the flash in the photos. WEIRD
but before this, even if some of my test shots did not have the flash unit in frame, i still could not see the flash firing in the photos.
also, when i focus directly on the metz while it is facing directly at the lens, the flash fires but it never shows in the exposure. never at all.
edit:
i played around with it again and it seems that, when the flash unit is just outside of frame, i won't see the flash in the photo. but if i put it further away out of frame (if that makes sense) i can see the flash.
edit again:
just played with it YET again, and it seems that even if the flash unit is in frame, as long as i physically stay far away enough, i can see the flash.
hope that helps.

I have a k200d and a Metz 48 AF-1
i'm using the metz in 'Remote slave flash mode' and the k200d's flash mode is set to wireless mode.
But I'm having some problems.
Some of my shots don't 'show' the effects of the off-camera flash. I notice that with shutter speeds of 1/50 or slower, the photos look as if the off-camera flash did not fire, when in reality it did.
Shouldn't it work between shutter speeds of 1/30 and 1/180 since that is the range I have?
i was playing around with it again earlier this morning and i realized sometimes even at 1/100 it doesn't 'sync'. the flash fires but the shots don't show the light.
a bit erratic.
What should I do?

that's shocking. and they call themselves camera experts? the Pentax 50mm are one of the best classic lenses around and eneloops are one of the best batteries around.

i've got the standard (white colour) sanyo charger that came in a kit with the eneloop AA batteries. IIRC, a full charge takes 10 or 12 hours. if i buy imedions, would it be roughly the same number of hours?

that's true. which is why i was particularly worried when i discovered the fault in the lens. adorama offered to reimburse return shipping, which helps a lot. i don't have to worry about excessive costs to return a faulty lens (due to the manufacturer's defect).

I apologize. I was being too rash. I was disappointed because I went out of my way to order from Adorama even when their server was down (for Australia anyway). But then again, I don't blame them for that.
I posted this so that I can find out what other people on this forum think Adorama should do, not to go on a rant about them. Whilst some of my comments may have been stupid, it was never my intention to make Adorama seem any less reliable.
Adorama have since replied to my e-mail and have asked me to ship the item back to them for a refund/exchange and also reimburse return shipping (they told me to e-mail them the receipt - which I have).
I have shipped the item and I'll see how it goes from there.
But so far their customer service has been great.
I hope it all proceeds smoothly from here.

raymeedc, i sure hope so. i am still waiting for their response.
i have read online that B&H are known to offer a complete exchange without any extra charge for a defective item. i just hope Adorama can do the same.

I'm based in Australia and I bought a Sigma 30mm f1.4 for my pentax k200d from Adorama. It's been about 3 days since I received it. I only realized today that there is a loose aperture blade! I did not drop it at all and it has been taken good care of the 3 days I had it.
When I move the lens around the blade will 'drop out' and sometimes when i take photos the blade does not move all the way back into position, like a normal blade would.
Here is a photo of it. http://i38.tinypic.com/24dmrk9.jpg
I have e-mailed Adorama and currently awaiting their response. What should they do?

yes, maybe i'm more sensitive. high pitched sounds like that always distract me from whatever i am doing. i also note again, it's not the normal whine noise you get with some flashes when the flash is charging.

KJon, good to know that it is not only my unit producing the particular noise. lucky for me, when i'm out and about i can forget about small things like this.
