Buckstaff Bathhouse in Hot Springs National Park has excellent clean lines and beautiful blues that really showcase just how good the Pentax-DA* 11-18mm really is. The image received minimal corrections in DXO Photo Lab for for geometry and highlights. Shooting time was about an hour before sunset using the indirect light to avoid blowing out the brilliant white highlights. I've been incredibly happy with this lens for landscapes and architecture.

The Eclipse as seen through the pine branches in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas. The breeze moving the trees made the focus challenging.

Ebay updated its structure a while back- the shipping price is now considered no different from the sale price and ebay's fees are leveraged on the total out-the-door, as are the sales taxes for unfortunate people like us here in Colorado. Yep- we have to pay sales tax on shipping costs for large, heavy items. This structure has really hurt the musical instrument market on Ebay, but it was necessary because of the shipping/price abuse.

Lots of fun watching an Osprey Fishing up at St Vrain. Great place for bird watching. The new 55-300 PLM has been serving me well for casual birding.

Composited from a series of 8 images in Microsoft ICE after developing each RAW in DXO PL5, and then harmonizing the lighting and color after composite stitching. Shot July 3rd 2023.
The full size image is intended to print as a large wall hanging, so you can see the cow's facial expressions when the image is not compressed :P

I think the current pano cut is ideal, but if you were to chop it down to a standardized size you could do a 2:1 like this.
Otherwise, minor lens flare is the only adjustment.

Just got My new K-3iii yesterday as well along with the DA* 11-18mm 2.8. I have been shooting with the K-3 for years this is definitely a more refined camera. Great viewfinder and great screen, but still has the familiar K-3 feel. Have only had time to tool around the neighborhood after work so far, but will be doing a mountain trip this weekend to break it in.

Was flipping through the menus in my K-3iii after it came yesterday and had not looked at the recommended setting before- funny thing is I ended up configuring it almost the same as recommended in the article! Good advice!

Given 99% of my editing is in DXO4, this ( and the $$) have been my major obstacles to upgrading to a K3iii. I have been going back through old photos after upgrading to DXO4 and have been able to salvage many images I had given up on previously. The Deep Prime does wonders on cleanup when I need to do high contrast editing- I love this software.

It's not a Pentax, but I still keep a 6MP Nikon D40 around. The autofocus motor in the only lens I have for it (18-55) is busted from being dropped too many times, so it shoots in manual mode. I switched to Pentax instead of upgrading in Nikon world. I got some great images out of that camera. These images are from 2007.

Peach blossoms are as beautiful as the fruit they produce and Colorado produces the finest anywhere! Here's to a 2021 bumper crop (barring a late freeze...)

The K-3 family is nigh indistructible as well as I have put mine through ridiculous abuse and it hasn't missed a beat.
If you read the article closely, it pretty much admits the K-1 is the toughest thing around.

This is certainly an opinion piece not a researched article by any stretch. The point was really that a non-pentaxian source was gonna giving positive credit and recognizing the robustness of pentax pro equipment.

" It annoys me that many on-line merchants do not reveal their postage charge until you are actually paying at the "checkout"; at least I assume they do that because I never go that far with those sites, as I won't buy from merchants who are not up fron with their postal charge"
Yes! If I have to enter all my personal information and get 1 step from submitting to get a shipping charge, that is a huge no go.

Surnia,
I am using a Samsung Syncmaster P2770 and an Acer V246HL. The samsun tend to display bright and acer a bit washed out. That said, your analysis seems consistent with what I am seeing- The squirrel image is heavy on Cyan and a bit on reds and the Bluejay is slightly de-saturated.

Nice! You have a great commute. I have told myself many times I should get up an hour early to swing by the lake 10 minutes from the office but it never happens.

very interesting. The skull is not something you would see often in a milky way shot- it is a rather eclectic composition.

I certainly don't envy the postal workers. A good friend of mine is a FedEx driver and gets ground down hard in December. He's young and energetic with no kids though.
As far as shipping costs, if they were substantially more, it would really change the online sales market. I already don't sell privately to Canadians because the offers they give me are lowballed due to their shipping and duty and exchange costs.

The LX100ii is more portable and was going to be my first pick, but the GX85 was coming in $200 cheaper, and I had some concerns about not being able to remove the lens on the LX for cleaning as I am good at getting my gear messy.

Every package I have sent or am awaiting to receive right now is listed as late/delayed with tracking updates having stopped days ago. Anyone else having issues?
