Reason for selling: Unemployment crunch---though I am keeping my Pentax W90 All items have sold K100D with SMC DA-18-55mm f/3.5-6.5 kit lens$275 shipped SOLD
Includes two "D" Remotes (one unopened), cables, manual, rear viewfinder cap, hot shoe cover (on camera). Lens comes with hood, front and rear caps, and manual (no filter).
Actuations are in the 7200's. The stock focussing screen was replaced with a split screen (this really boosted my manual focussing skills as many of you said it would).
The camera is in excellent condition. Never dropped, abused, etc. Comes from smoke-free, pet-free, and odor/frangrance-free environment. It’s spent most of the time in my camera bag unfortunately. The sensor was replaced by Pentax a couple of years ago LENSES All lenses have always had filters on them. Glass is clean. Blades are clean. No issues, ever. There is incidental dust on some elements, but as you all taught me this does not affect image quality at all. Pentax FA 50mm f/1.4 $245 shipped SOLD
Includes box, front and rear caps, and Hoya Ø 49mm filter SMC PENTAX-DA 50-200 f/4-5.6 $105 shipped SOLD Includes hood, both caps, and manual (no filter) Super-Takumar 50mm 50mm f/1.4 $85 shipped SOLD Includes front cap, filter, m42 to K mount adapter ring (still in package) Sears 135mm f/2.8 macro (for Pentax) $40 shipped SOLD
Includes front & rear caps and Ø 52mm filter
Sample My eBay ID is the same as my Pentax ID. I have 100% feedback there, fyi. |

There are two types of lenses: those that have dust, and those that will get dust---unless we're talking sealed lenses. :o)

I received a double split with a microprism for a K100D from Jinfinance on eBay. The tools are not included, but he does sell them. The screen works great, though I have to admit that I do not notice any "darkening" that others have mentioned in other post.
Thanks for the review

I use Aperture. It's often compared to Lightroom which is nice too.

Anyone know if there is Ev compensation while in M mode? (i.e. hyper manual). The spec lists don't say as much. Curious.

Just a note regarding manual focussing on the K100D. There is no exposure compensation or "hyper manual" mode on the K100D. There is on the K20D (not the K10D).
As for the screen, I know that focusingscreen.com also makes screens. Question is, I wish I could find a review or comparison between this, the Jinfinance screen, and the Katz Eye.

I had a similar issue on my K100d which proved to be a faulty sensor. Mine were orange, not blueish as yours. I had to have the sensor replaced.

Last week I received a new remote control D to work with a K100D. I tested it with about, say, 8 - 10 shots, and put it in my bag (all in front of the camera, not behind). The red sensor on the camera lighted, and all worked well so I stowed it until I would need it this past week.
I dug it out again last week to take some shots, and to my surprise it just didn't work. I checked to make sure AF was set to AF.S, and that autofocus was enabled under the remote setting. It just stopped working. I tested the battery, and it's fine. :hmm:
Q: How do I determine if the camera's sensor has suddenly burned out, or if the remote just died?

How did you "reset" this in the camera? I have a remote control D that worked for said five minutes, and since that one day it has never worked again. The battery is good, but it will no longer work, and I don't know if it's now the remote, or the IR receiver on the body (K100D). Any tips to get the remote to start working again would be great.

It's a burnt/hot pixel. If you send it in to Pentax, they will have your camera for approximately one month. I have a hot pixel on my camera and it JUST came back from Pentax after having been gone a month already for a toasted sensor. I'm not looking forward to the return process once again. Some here might call you a "pixel peeper" and noting that it doesn't appear in print, and to let it go. However, if you're like me, I present many images via a large screen, and such hot pixels distract from discerning eyes (esp. mine). I believe there is an application out there that zaps these upon import, but I'd prefer they simply not be there altogether.

I. Remote Control. I'm looking at the Pentax IQ Zoom LS Remote Control F, but see that there's a 3 second delay from the time you press the button to the shutter release.
Q: Is there a remote that has a near immediate shutter release?
Q: For those who have used this very tiny one, does the 3 second delay ever cost you a shot because of the lag time?
II. Cable Release.
Q: Any particular things one should look for in a cable release beyond length of cable?
I see a bunch on fleaBay, and just wondered if any of you have buying tips.
Cheers.

In response to the pixel peeping, to my shock and horror, I just discovered that the new sensor that Pentax just put in has a burnt / hot pixel. They had the camera for four weeks, and now I'm faced with whether or not I need to send it back to have the sensor replaced again.

On my FA 50mm f/1.4 I noticed that I get green fringe sometimes. I'm curious is this is normal for this lens, or if I should be concerned, and return it to the place of purchase.
Ex. 1: f/2 1/100 0ev ISO800
Ex. 2: f/2 1/90 0ev ISO200
I have other samples, but these show the green fringe the best.

I have Aperture, but don't have any plug-ins. I've tried to with some success some stylized color effects with LightZone. Thanks for the help. I very much appreciate it.

Interesting that you'd mention that. That camera was shipped back to Pentax two weeks ago for a faulty sensor. Photos were noisy and had streaks.
