Also were you using a flash? If I recall there is a setting to set the white balance for the flash or use the ambient light.

I store DNG on my external drive and the JPEGs on my Mac and then use google photos to also store the jpegs on the cloud.
Not really related, but while traveling recently, my phone was lifted (Madrid) at the end of my trip and all my phone photos were automatically saved with google photos.

I went with Pentax mostly because I got a very good deal on a K50. Two things that were also important was the weather sealing and built in image stabilizer. Although I don't shoot in horrible weather, it is nice to know the camera is when the weather turns. The built in image stabilizer means a lot of savings on lenses. You will probably give up a stop or so of stabilization for tele lenses, but that's something I can live with.

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I just did an experiment that confirms it was light in the viewfinder.
From inside, I took a picture of my deck through glass doors. With aperture priority and fixed ISO the shutter was 0.6. Possibly slightly overexposed, but about right. Added 3 stop ND and the shutter reading bounced between 3 and 4 seconds. Exposure was also good, but probably a bit under exposed. Last I took a small flashlight and shined it toward the viewfinder. Shutter reading was between 1/60 and 1/250, depending on the angle.
I will be cutting up the top of a tennis ball can (black) to make a view finder screen.

Thanks for the feedback. My unfiltered pictures has a shutter speed of 1/40 second and had good exposure, The ones with the ND filter were 1/10 second. So it looks like the camera treated it as if it was a 2 stop filter instead of 6 stop. In aperture priority the camera will go to 30 seconds. The sun was behind me and the viewfinder was not covered so I'm thinking that light leaking in might be the issue.
Does using liveview help with the light leaking in? Yes I probably lost the cover.

Today I tried to get some relatively long exposures of breaking ocean waves. I used a 6 stop ND filter, aperture priority and fixed ISO=100. I figured the camera would choose the right shutter speed for the right exposure. The photos came out almost black. I removed the ND filter and the photos came out properly exposed, but with a fast shutter speed. Then I reinstalled the ND filter and changed to Manual and then adjusted to shutter so that the camera indicated 4 stops overexposure and pictures came out just slightly underexposed. I was using a tripod and a wireless shutter control. Any explanations are appreciated. Thanks.
