K10D. The Australian flora and fauna has been shaped by fire. In the Top End, fires rage during the Dry Season, then there is the Wet and everything is green and growing.

No comment on the DOF because I think it is personal preference for the appearance of the image. As for calculating DOF, I always have my phone and use an app, if I cannot judge from a test image.

Nicely composed. Clouds in this particularly appealing.

I would not rely on an article that says "If you have a Pentax kit or you are thinking about picking one up – maybe for that K-1 DSLR – then you are likely wondering about the best budget options for Pentax right now" at the start and then says "(not that Pentax makes a full frame at the time of writing this posting)". The following discussion is all about the APS-C. Not very good. And then there is this: "One of the tough things with the Sony system, especially on the full frame side of things is that native budget options have been slim pickins’. that said, there are still some great budget E mount options that you all should be considering. (As well we will include some great Sony A mount lenses that can be adapted and will work well)".
It seems to be a badly edited "copy and paste" of another article. And the lenses are mostly at the smaller focal ranges.

Agreed. There is no 'best'. For instance, by the sea, you could go fast and sharp to highlight the splash of waves, or slow and creamy to give a dreamy, peaceful effect.

You need to be concerned about it when buying lenses. Some lenses are designed for the smaller sensor and will not fill the full frame for a FF sensor. Lenses designed for the FF sensor will be fine on the smaller sensor.
I grew up with a FF camera, so the size is helpful to me to compare my new kit to my previous experience.

Top two photos may have an issue with colour balance. 18-55 is my favourite general purpose lens: does nicely in macro, as well.

I usually shoot Tv (action) or Av (landscape, still). Rarely, have auto ISO as I prefer to control that keeping it as low as possible. Autofocus only, when I started because of bad eyesight (now fixed). I shoot RAW+jpg now because the K-3II has slots for two cards, which is convenient. Main lenses are 18-55 and 50-500 but also 18-300 and a 50 mm macro. For a lighter option, the Pentax 55-200 is nice.

The Sigma 50-500 is my favorite wildlife lens but it sure is big and heavy. And not cheap. I have recently got the Sigma 18-300. It's a nice range but I have not used it enough to comment on its quality. For me WR is nice but not essential as WR is not water proof.
