Hoping to do a bit better this month - I only managed 3 pictures last month. I'll be using the Cyclop 85mm night vision lens. It has a fixed f1.5 aperture.

Apologies. Once again I'm displaying how geographically challenged I tend to be..

I always enjoy MoNovember. This month I'll be using a Meyer-Optik Primotar Gorlitz 135/3.5 preset lens. A slightly zebra version. It has a 15 blade iris, so should be some opportunity for wierd blur. The preset ring is a bit loose so a certain amount of care will be required.

I'm in with something a bit lighter than the DFA 150-450 beast. Probably the Cosinon 50/1.7 or the Pentacon 50/1.8. I have some film to use up, so I may put one of them on the K1000 and do a bit of contrasting and comparing.

I've been waiting for this for a couple of weeks now. Luckily it has arrived just in time for the September SIC. Pentax DFA 150-450mm by Kevin Etheridge, on Flickr

I have a week off at the beginning of August and we are planning to visit the north of Norfolk. A lot of wide open spaces and sea. The Sigma 24mm wil be good for that and would have been a contender for the month, but it was singled in April. I shall also bring a Sigma 70-300 DG for wildlife in the nature reserves - so that will be Augusts lens.

After a rather poor showing last month I'll be in with the Tair 11A 135mm, one of my favourites. It will be a short month, though, as I'm off on a beach holiday for the last couple of weeks and I won't be bringing the K1. The trusty Olympus Tough TG4 will be brought out of hibernation for that.

May's lens will be a Miranda 28-70mm. I bought it from Dixons (remember them, old people in the UK?) about 40 years ago to use with my K1000. It was reasonably OK on film, but works very well on digital.

The Pentacon 80mm f2.8 projector lens is a bit of a challenge with it's wafer-thin depth of field, and a tendency towards a blue\purple cast in low light. It's also a bit soft. It can produce "bubble" bokeh, but that has pretty much excaped me this month. Where it can shine is with the addition of extension tubes to go close-up. It smears out any out-of-focus colours in an interesting way, although the thin DOF can still be challenging. Some favourites for the month:

I was thinking about hauling out the big guns and using the Photosniper, but in the end decided to go with the Sigma 24/1.8 EXDG Macro. I'll save the Photosniper for later in the year.

This month's lens will be a Pentacon 80/2.8 (fixed) projector lens. It was my first 'frankenlens' and was glued rather inexpertly into a mount then screwed into a helicoid and then the whole lot screwed into a an M42 to PK adaptor. With the result that it's probably not square to the sensor and it focusses well past infinity. The depth of field is very narrow. So it may be flatlays and distant landsapes this month. Should be challenging.....

This month's lens will be the Tamron SP 60-300 Macro (23A). The macro function will give me opportunities for indoor shots in the evenings if I don't manage to get out during the day.
