So, I managed to get out twice into the woods this weekend hoping to capture some autumnal images with the trees changing colours and perhaps do a [link=https://youtu.be/RLUcrYlGKnk]small video[/link] about the image taking process and what nots.
Well, the thing is if you have been out of practise for a while it soon becomes apparent when you try to pick up where you left off. I spent most of the weekend stumbling around in my wellies, slipping in the mud, and not really remembering how to use my camera!
So unfortunately I haven't really got anything to show for my efforts, so back to the archives for an image taken on the [link=https://youtu.be/Hd0wX9IGPvM]Isle of Skye[/link] on the road to Elgol

Very much like the subtle mood of this composition.

Back to personal favourites. The water was still enough for the boat not to be rocking, but a 30s exposure smothed it out completely. What I like here is that I was able to position the camera, by working my way down the beach to get the boat under the arch of cloud - which is then reflected in the sea. A subtler thing I like is the light from the flashing channel markers, and the buoys, providing a visual counterweight to the boat, and the few pinpricks of artificial light on the far shore.

Another poster posted a sunset of a similar but not identical portion of the NYC skyline, and it led me to revisit this sunrise photo from 2 years ago.
The clouds were very cooperative that morning. I used a 1.5 second exposure to get enough light and soften the water a little. The clouds didn't move any appreciable amount but their texture looks like a much longer exposure or selective blurring. The clouds behind me near the sun were good, too, reflecting off the windows.
