was a good show. Unflrtunately one camera that was supposed to do a time lapse malfunctions & didin't fire. Two others (including the infrared I was excited about) are just enough out of focus they're useless and can't be salvaged.

evolution of my dragon shot. Tried to make the red more subtle. Desaturating didn't give me the look I want, but I'm pretty happy with this. Same image but also light l;painted with a white light & a black & white layer added at 50% opacity.

so this is what I've found...
card: I updated the firmware to 2.41 (was on 2.40) but it still will not write to a specific card (says cannot create the image folder) regardless of what slot it's in. However, that card works fine in another camera or my pc. Card will be replaced, writing it off as faulty (older card anyway)
AT: honestly, I've never got this to work very well. I will research it more as I'm probably not doing something right (last time I tried using it was probably 2 years ago)
Interval shooting: Another featuure I don't use often and when I do, I use a non Pentax so it works much different. Chalk that up to user error (also C 13 is set to 1. I set it to 2 but I will definitely change how I program it, exposuure time + 3 seconds)

Something new, for me at least. Lots of people have done star trails, but what about moon trails... intentionally? Yes, this is nothing new but is new to me. Pentax K-1ii w/ FA* 70-200/2.8. Relatively happy as it;s a first attempt. I was surprised at the number of hot pixels that popped up though. Will have to try this again on the next appropriate night (clouds for the next few nights) 69 min, f/11, ISO100

I was doing some solar imaging & some stray clouds partially obscured the sun. Looks kinda eerie... ominous. I like it anyway.

To set this up, I got the idea to do several long exposures of plances taking off & landing at night. I live near a small airport that troutinely has Hercules C-130 transpost planes practice landing and take offs (we call them tough & go as they land, and immeditabely take off, cirle around and to it again. Well tonight I saw on flying towrds the aoirport, so hopped int hecar with the camera. I wasn't disapointed as there were two of these taking turns. This is about 12 2' exposrues blended to show multiple airplane streaks as they take ioff & land.

So, I'm fortunate to be pretty much in the middle of the path of totality for the upcoming North American eclipse in April. I've got a pretty good idea of how to shoot the eclipse, but I'm also wanting to set a camera up & do interval shooting for a composite of all the phases. Trying to figure out what my settings would be for that. I figure the exposure I can dial in when I'm there and the moon starts to be visible but trying to figure out what will be a good interval. Thinking 50-60 shots, 30 sec apart? Something like this, but maybe showing more phases. I'm finding articles on doing a video or taking shots for an animated image (1-2 sec recommended for those), but I'll run into buffer overrun if I try to do anything less than 5-8 second intervals. (random pic from Google)
