I got this nifty camera kit from ebay.
French made Foca PF2B. The focus helical is in the body, so RF is only accurate for 50mm lenses.

I did contact the Takumarology site and he replied that he has not seen the lens with a black aperture ring. I sent him photos with permission to use them.

I don't trust catalog pictures. It lists the minimum aperture as f/22 which is not correct for the first model.
It also has a chrome aperture ring (like the Asahiflex model) while mine is black. What I am trying to find out is if the black ring is unique or the the listings are wrong or there was a model 1.5 |

Curiouser and curiouser. I was trying to do research on this variant of the
early M42 version of the 500mm f/5 Takumar - Model I. I couldn't find a photo
of any M42 Model I Takumars. Plenty of the Asahiflex 500 and tons of the
Pentax Model II. Even Oosten's picture of one appears to be a drawing of a
Pentax stuck on the Asahiflex lens. Has anyone here seen the lens or a photo of
one?

Just checked on 3 different winder assemblies. All are right-hand thread (maybe no mid-production changes) unscrew counter-clockwise. Best of luck.

If this is what you are talking about (the mirror rests on this pad after it drops down), the size is
1.75 x 1.5 x 2.5 mm. Part # B115 in the service manual.

Here you go.
The hood was two-piece, Series VII filters fit between the two parts.
The 55/2.2 Atuo-Takumar was the lens sold with the S1. The SV standard lens was the 55/1.8 Super-Tak.

And in using it , I wonder how many shots were ruined by failing to close the shutter before winding to the film sheet.

No. 10 Ansco, Model A., around 1907, made 3 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch negatives on 122
roll film (next to a 120 spool for comparison). Had front Rise/Fall and Swing
capabilities. Interesting film option was Vidil Focusing Film, a roll film
with alternating parchment and film sheets. Wind the film until the parchment
sheet was in place, open the back and open the shutter. Focus and compose on
the parchment, then close the back and shutter. Wind the film into place, and
take the photo. A clever idea, but not a popular one, the film was only
marketed for 4 years.

The first time I saw a listing for an SB, I thought it was a misprint. After researching it, I bought it. Took me about 2 years to find and buy an SB2 to go with it.

Finally bagged an SB2 to complete my SB collection (I think there were only the two). SB and SB2, versions of the S2 and S3 sold only on military bases.

The 250 back has 4 rollers. Three on the back and one on the frame. The film travels a long way between spools.

I got liveview to compile on Centos7, but I had to uninstall the wxGTK (version 2) packages and compilethe WxWidgets 3.0.4 (not WxGTK3). Confusing versioning. Idon't know what release of WxGTK is suppliedwith OpenSuSE, but Centos7 repositories only supplied up to version 2.8.

Centos7 is 64-bit only, no 32-bit code. I had to build a gcc-5.5.0 compiler to compile the cli.cpp.
First attempts.
All photos taken with Pentax FA 100/2.8 Macro.
Tenax II - First photo is stacked image of 9 shots. Second photo is middle focus of the shots.
PROM - First photo is stacked image of 13 shots. Second photo is middle focus shot.
It looks like I need to take a higher number of shots with smaller adjustment steps to prevent "focus gaps",
but that's part of the learning process. |

Yes. It is likely that the shutter dial plate will rotate and drop back down while you are working on the camera. With the top off, you can see that a round plate with slots in it is what determines the shutter speed. It changes the amount of turn (time) before a tab trips the second shutter curtain.

Pull up on the speed dial and rest it between shutter speeds, between 60 and 120 gives the widest space. Remove the set screws and remove the shutter dial. When putting it back together, pull up on the piece that the dial is set-screwed to and rotate it until it remains raised, replace the top and attach the speed dial.

If you are buying as a collector, I would wait for a real black paint camera. If you just want a black AP/K you
could buy a chrome version and repaint or have it repainted for a lot cheaper than what is selling on the 'bay.
These cameras are easy to disassemble (no electronics). Tell-tell signs will be the back hinge will still be chrome. If you have decent repair skills you can get a body that needs repair for very good prices. And be paitient. I got a black S with the unheard of 55mm f 1.8 preset Takumar for $165.00, but I had to replace the shutter curtains.
