The restoration of our old garden pond really helped bringing a lot of interesting bugs back into our garden like this four spotted chaser dragonfly. She was very adorable and docile as well. Guess the thought if I stay just still he wont notice me. ;) Hope you like it :)

Happy new year from Germany to all Pentaxians. Hope you all had a great time last night. I definately had with my Pentax K3-II taking some amazing shots of my firework batteries. I hope you like them. :). The tree was unfortunately a little bit in the way and there was not really another good spot due to the fact that im residing in a valley and with a ton of street lights on the opposite side. All of them were taken with the Pentax 10 -17mm Fisheye, ISO 100, F8, 5 seconds, interval shooting, tripod

Abstract My tegenaria atrica after christmas dinner

I found this little fellow around 6 weeks ago at my work. Without me rescuing her she would have most likely died. Last week I bought her a proper terrarium unfortunately its quite difficult to photograph her cause her species is one of the fastest on the planet so taking her out is out of the question. So I had no option as to take the shot through the plastic glas and of course with spider webs in front of it as well. Yet the detail is quite astonishing. The picture was taken with a Pentax K3-II, Pentax 100mm 2.8 Macro WR, ISO 100, F13, 20 seconds. She has quite a large abdomen due to fact that I took it right after she had a wonderful christmas dinner. A worm 3/4 of her size. :)

Today I was really lucky with our weather. After days of rain the sun finally came out and I used the opportunity to get some shots in a forest nearby. I hope you enjoy them. I was using a 10-17mm fisheye and 100mm Macro lens paired with my K-70. :)

Im using a Pentax-K70 with the smc DFA Macro 100mm f2.8 lens. About the lightning it really depends. Non moving objects like plants ill try to shoot without a flash otherwise like in the pictures above im shooting them in aperture priority mode with f11- f13, ISO 100 and the inbuild camera flash system. The rest is done by some finishing touches in lightroom.:)

---------- Post added 10-17-16 at 01:54 PM ----------

True that. We had a really nice warm day today the temperatures almost went up to 20 degrees Celsius with plenty of insects flying around. Im glad that you like the pictures and about the flash Im using its the inbuild flash system in the K70 :)

Well I was thinking "There are so many regular shots of that fort already why not try something different" and thats when the fisheye came to my mind :). Not only that it allows to get almost all the architecture on one pic it also creates some interesting distortions which gives a nice feeling to the photo.

Well Im also not a veteran in this field yet but what I would suggest is that if you use zoom lenses keep it at around 100mm for macro. It gives you the best quality and distance to your objects. If youre willing to spend around 600 bucks then you should actually get the Pentax 100mm 2.8 macro lens. If you look at my example pictures you can take really nice pictures not only from the realy tiny objects but also bigger animals/objects. Its a one time investment and absolutely worth it. About extension tubes. Well they do their job but keep in mind that you will have loss of sharpness which is quite essential for macros.

Hello und "Guten Abend" dear Pentaxians from Germany. My name is Alex and I'm fairly new to DSLR photography in fact I just started in mid august by buying a K-70 together with a 100mm macro lense and thats where my interest lies with all the small things around us.Flowers, mushrooms, bugs, patterns all that kind of stuff has catched my interest. Some examples: Macrophotography | Flickr Right now Im exploring the possibilites with vintage lenses like this Revuenon 50mm 1.8 lense which I got from a fleamarket for 5 bucks. 50mm 1.8 Auto Revuenon vintage lense photos | Flickr Im looking forward to interesting discussions, how to improve yourself and sharing nice pictures with the community. :)

Beautiful photos. The first one is just awesome. :) I wish we had this kind of nice autumn here right now. Its just cold and wet and most trees are green yet and no mushrooms in sight so far. Well October has just begun and there is still time for better weather and great shots :)

Thank you. Im happy that you like it especially after the fact that Ive just started in early june with photography by buying a middle class bridge camera. The camera was alright for standard photography but soon I just reached its limits especially in macro so Ive decided to go full in and buy a DSLR camera. In august then it happened and I've ended up with the new K-70 in addition with the Pentax 100mm Macro lense. First it was a little bit frustrating to get into all the features and learning everything about setting up the aperture,ISO and shutter speed but some tutorial videos on youtube got me into it and now it just makes a ton of fun.

As a first post on this forum I would like to show you one of my macro shots I've took during august basically right after I've bought the K-70. About the subjects. Those two hoverflys were always flying around together. If one of them was sitting on a flower the other one was either flying above the other one or was sitting close by. I hope you like it.:)
