Yeah, you are probably right. I've tried to find keystrokes for a hard reset, have tried the MODSET hacking routine, but the camera does not appear to either read the SD card reader, or recognize a USB connection. So I think something must be disconnected/missing. I'm just going to have to get up courage and get into the insides and see what I can find. I found a link that one of our members posted to the forum for the k10d service manual. That has detailed instructions and excellent photos of the insides being disassembled, so I'll give it a try.

Update: I have tried the various suggestions above and unfortunately, the camera is still stuck on the date adjust screen. I tried PK Tether and found out by doing so that the camera did not recognize my Windows computer, nor did the computer recognize the camera. I know that my USB cord is good because I could use it to hook my K100D to my computer successfully. I learned that pressing the shutter button halfway, or pressing the info, or the display arrow button would wake the LCD monitor after the screen timed out.
I contacted the Ricoh live chat but did not find any magic bullets to help my situation there. I was told, when I asked about any special keystroke sequence, that I should try pressing menu, then the 4-way up twice, then right once, then up once, then press OK. That did nothing for me, but I mention it here in case it may help someone else at some time.
I think I will get inside the camera body and look to see if anything appears disconnected or otherwise wrong. I recall seeing a thread on the forum showing some photos of that process so I'll try it.

Thanks Adam - Good point. The directional buttons on the 4-way controller ring seem to work, to an extent - at least they cause different AF points to light up in the viewfinder when I press them. But meanwhile, the Date Adjust screen is still displaying on the LCD monitor on the camera back and there is no action evident there. It would seem that the 4-way controller should be making different selections on the LCD Date Adjust screen while that is displayed, but instead it is highlighting different AF points in the viewfinder and no action on the LCD screen, so it seems that the 4-way buttons are not connected to the LCD menu screen.
I have not been able to close down the Date Adjust screen or change it in any way. The only things I have been able to do is to: (1) turn the camera on, which results only in the display of the Date Adjust screen, (2) highlight different AF points in the viewfinder (Date Adjust screen still displayed), or (3) turn the camera off.

I purchased a used K10d, which I knew had some sort of freeze-up problem. It was very cheap and I thought maybe I could fix it by changing batteries or firmware. I was wrong. I inserted a new, newly-charged battery (not OEM, but 7.4v, 2300mAh, 17.0Wh). When I turned the camera on, it showed the "Date Adjust" screen, with the highlight on "Date Style". I have not been able to get any response out of the screen, although, with the ring around the 4-way controller set at "SEL" I can see and move the focus point dots in the viewfinder, so there is connectivity from the 4-way controller.
I also own a K100d, so I am not totally unfamiliar with the menu system used on the K10.
I tried to update the firmware to version 1.31, but no luck. I have not been able to move out of the "Date Adjust" screen, or get any response within that screen.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
