Hello and thank you :) I'm still learning my way around the buttons and shooting at a way lower ISO than Canon in dark situations but I'm amazed! Will most definitely look into water resistant lenses as well since I work outside that can be a problem. So glad to know the body is weather resistant :) Thank you again

Brand new to Pentax Cameras and forum. Really enjoying it here. A friend of mine, who is on here, wanted me to share this with you guys. This was my first shoot with the Pentax (test shoot with my Daughter at Christmas Tree lot). Added in some fake snow because it's fun

Hi Everyone ... new to Pentax cameras so I was limited to what I could upload. Dark day, inside of Starbucks, so had to work with a high ISO and manage the grain

K5 Lens Release Button Fell Off???

That's a GREAT idea. If I ever lose that button at least I have that in my head :) Right now I did the black electrical tape, which looks so professional out in the field. HaHa! Honestly though, you have to look really hard to even notice.

I'm REALLY loving this camera guys! It's rocking my world, literally! I can't believe the quality I'm getting, the crisp photos! Canon WHO??? It does seem like a tough camera too. That button got me so upset though. I feel like it's affecting the camera and lenses syncing together but then again, I'm SO new to Pentax that it may just be me.

---------- Post added 12-12-16 at 03:18 PM ----------

The button along with the long pin (if that makes sense) attached to it. Basically you can just pop it right back into the hole and it's good to go. I put black electrical tape over it and seems to be going fine. I was more concerned about losing that button that anything. I think I can just keep a good eye on that tape and all should be fine. A little electrical tape is no big deal at all. I'm thinking of getting another Pentax after Christmas as a backup because I always had a backup before (with Canon). NOT quite ready for the K1 yet (the expense) so I am trying to decide do I just get another K5 or got to a K3? Decisions ....

Stinks Mark ... I WISH she'd buy me a new lens, although I do have to say she did buy my 70-200mm 2.8 four years ago so that was nice of her. Since then NO lenses :( Ha

I'll have to check out this chatty thread.

---------- Post added 12-09-16 at 09:50 PM ----------

mee ... the piece luckily fell right into my hand. Ha! I didn't even know what it was at first so I just put it inside my camera bag and eventually I realized ... ooh, NOT good! I have it back on there now. The lenses are now connecting and doing fine now but at first, when I put the button on, the lenses were giving me a fit. I read some threads on it. Said super glue. I say NO WAY am I touching this thing with superglue! I then read the most brilliant response "black electrical tape". So I'm OFF to get some of that to hold that button in place so I won't lose it and hopefully that will rig the issue until I figure out something else. In the meantime, as long as it works AND I don't lose it ... I'm ok with it.

Did a shoot the other day and the lens started acting a little whacky, I think because of the button issue and it hadn't completely locked in. Long story, I brought my Canon along for the ride just incase. OMG ... the image comparison made me LAUGH OUT LOUD! I couldn't believe the difference, even with my lens not acting right due to the button falling off. It was hysterical. Never again ... I'm a Pentax girl all the way now :)

mee ... thank you so much! I think I will take that advice on staying mostly away from manual. I do love manual, even focus, but with my sort of photography it's about impossible with two years RUNNING and you're running after them to try and catch a photo. LOL!! So I'll stick with the K mount lenses for sure and I'll definitely go check out those two places. Actually been buying there for years (BHPhoto and Adorama) but Canon equipment. Now it'll be Pentax, that is IF I get any answers in the forum/thread I just posted as to WHY my lens release button just FELL OFF in my hands today? LOL! Guys, thanks ... y'all are pretty awesome on here

You deserve a "quoted" text for that one Knock! LOL! First off, men this gentlemen here knows me better than he pretends. Don't even buy into this business. Ha! Second, I didn't wrinkle my nose over the Pentax, did I? If I did, I was a FOOL but then again ... aren't we all :) Seriously though I am glad you let me play a few weeks ago with your new Pentax as I fell in love with it that night and that was it for me. As far as your lenses ... hmmmmm ... guys, anyone gonna help me out with this? See I borrowed his lenses and left him with none. The thing is he has a JOB and Photography is my JOB so darnet, I need these things if just for a little while :) You're just a South Pole Elf Knock! Angry South Pole Elf :D

Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jenna and I run Jenna Ann Photography. Been doing this for about 5/6 years as a business, but last three or so years have picked up. I've been a devoted Canon user for YEARS and Canon has FAILED me miserably, not just with one camera but SO many cameras. So a friend of mine who is a devoted Pentax user suggested Pentax. I tried his out and was immediately sold. Three weeks or so later, I bought my first Pentax and am about to sell all my Canon gear. I ended up getting the Pentax K5 as I wasn't sure how I would like it so wasn't quite ready to dive into anything else. I'm REALLY sort of dying at the specs on the K1 right now. However, will need to save for it as I've got lenses to purchase and all new gear. My friend let me borrow his 50mm 1.8 Pentax lens, which I'm used to working with a 50mm 1.8 anyway, so it's doing great. Just AMAZED at the quality of not only the camera but even the lens. Hoping to maybe purchase some older lenses, mostly prime, for business. I know an 85 or 90 is a great prime and I'm not if Pentax has a 100 but I think they do have a 135 prime. Any suggestions on older lens that AUTO focus? I shoot a LOT of families and running children so manual focus is NOT an option at all for me, sadly. So nice to be here. I've heard a lot about this group and how great you all are and I'm excited to be the new proud owner of a Pentax and tell Canon "bye bye" :)

I can upload a few photos I've taken indoors since I've gotten this camera. It's been raining so I haven't had a chance to really shoot outside much or on an actual person :( Plus it's mostly been in dark situations and at night time as well. Tonight I even shot through the store front windows downtown of Christmas decorations :)

Hi BigMack ... thank you so much for the welcome :) Also thank you for the info on where to look and post on here. I'm a bit overwhelmed but sure I will learn to navigate quickly :) I'll check out the areas you suggested and see about posting there.

I'm absolutely LOVING the K5. It's outdoing any Canon I've had, or have, which is amazing! It's handling very low light situations quite well and not only well but with ease too. I'm SO excited to get out there and shoot a family (if it'll ever stop raining here in Alabama). Super excited!!! I feel like this was the right switch indeed.

Thank you so much :)
Jenna
