...and yet, here you are again. ---------- Post added 11-21-16 at 06:14 PM ---------- Camerateen, I would recommend any of the suggestions above except micro 4/3, especially if you intend to buy any more MF lenses. On a M4/3 sensor, your Helios will become telephoto with equivalent 116mm focal length and a 28mm will no longer be a wide angle lens.

Haha, short but straight to the point! That indeed is how it works, this is why My Fuji is my "manual lens" camera and my Canon is my AF camera!

It looks to me as if all those shots were taken wide open at F2 (?)
You'll see some better sharpness at F4 and even better at F8, shutter speed should expose ok at 125th sec (in daylight), raise the ISO if the pic looks a bit dark then try again.
You're doing fine btw, all normal 'trial and error' stuff, that's what photography is all about IMO.

Fascinating, you've got a Pentax pancake lens adapted to fit on an X-M1?! How thick is the adapter?

I think the saving grace of this particular Fuji is that its screen can articulate, and in the horizontal position looking down from above a-la Hasselbald (but round the right way) that's a good thing.

Hi :-) I consider it to be an "art" lens. It is only ever sharp in the centre but it is great fun and full of old-world character. If you are good with a screwdriver you can even open it up to make the close focus distance smaller.
This lens is very small and the aperture ring a little difficult to operate but I like it and it has a very flat profile, when I have it mounted to my Fuji X-M1 (with the adapter) the whole camera and lens will fit in my jeans pocket. The Industar 69 is also very cheap.
Here is a pic I made with it: ---------- Post added 11-18-16 at 06:21 PM ----------

Don't forget rangefinder lenses and their much thinner adapters. Jupiter 8, Industar 61 both are about 52mm though - so not much between that and your 58mm Helios in terms of focal length but lighter and less protruding and generally cheaper. Then again IMO your next lens priority should be a wider one (cough cough 28mm!) ---------- Post added 11-18-16 at 06:07 PM ----------
Sniff sniff, mmmmmmm! :'-)

The Helios he already has should cover that, it's only 8mm longer.

eg a 28mm? there are loads to choose from and they're cheap, I'd advise searching the lens database here Camerateen ;-) <----
I'd also advise looking at the Sharpness/Bokeh/Value figures first ('aberration' can be dealt with in Photoshop and 'handling' is all part of the fun of old lenses.
As you now know, the Fuji "kit lens" is unreasonably expensive.

Packard Bell Viseo 230ws (23") 1920X1080 "recommended"! ...is that ok?
I could do with two really, I might invest in another one so I can do dual monitor stuff, especially useful for my music software as well as Photoshop.

...those are pretty good, now I see why the OP said he thought Pentax video was ok. I don't think AF is important with video, I'm pretty sure quite a lot of videographers use MF lenses and I've had a go too (using a Samyang 12mm) and the results were pretty good too, I couldn't do anything with the focus anyway after I'd set it because the whole rig was on a steadycam. ---------- Post added 11-12-16 at 06:19 PM ----------
...I wonder if you struggled with focus because it was dark and your aperture was fairly wide?
When I videoed using my Samyang 12mm, it was bright and sunny so I was running around with the lens set at about F11, keeping a similar distance from my subject so it all stayed in focus.

I wouldn't advocate a film camera other than for 'exercise', it certainly teaches you to compose and expose properly when you know that every time you wind on and click that shutter there's no turning back!
I went back to film a couple of times recently 1) with a Zorki 1 (Russian copy of Henri Cartier Bresson's Leica) and 2) with a Hasselblad F1000 ...which was interesting, but then I returned to my DSLR and mirrorless, I like to take, erase, chimp and do it again sometimes. ---------- Post added 11-12-16 at 05:13 PM ---------- *scuse me 1000F ---------- Post added 11-12-16 at 05:49 PM ----------
What a sweeping generalisation. I'm a Canon owner and have been for a number of years but I would not dream of saying "Hey Ignore all them Canon is best!"
I only advocated use of them based on my own experience of using them and because I know them, I am aware of the merits of other brands and am fully aware that Nikon and Pentax at least have various features that for the price put them above Canon. If I was a "religious" and "blind" Canon worshipper, why do you think I've joined this forum? The reason is because I love photography, I tried explaining this to another poster earlier but he was having none of it and it is as though he were trying to force me back into this same pre-determined slot.
