Hi all,
My latest acquisition is an old Vivitar 400 F5.6 which is a bit gruby but in overall good condition when it comes to the glass. However the tripod mount is stuck solid and doesn't want to shift in any direction.Any ideas of how I could free it up, I've tried alcohol and oil so far but no joy?

To start with, I really enjoy both looking at and reading the posts on this thread, thanks everyone.
I live and work in Andalusia, Spain as an English teacher and believe it or not after being in and living in a foriegn country for such a long time you actually start to forget your own language; my wife, kids, neighbours and students are all Spanish therefore I spend all my time speaking Spanish. OK, it's good for my Spanish but pays a price with my English.
It is for this reason I HAVE TO go back to the UK at least once a year to top up my English hahahahaha. It's also a really good excuse for spending some time with my UK family, see old friends and have a decent pint of English ale, when you can only drink lager it's pretty sad and you get bloated quickly.
OK, photos, Pentax K-x with the 18-250, it really is a good lens and covers nearly all of the bases. |

Thank you everyone because I always enjoy reading and looking at your posts, which always inspires me and keeps me playing and looking at different lenses.
Anyway here's my contribution to a bit of 'bokeh' from a 'Vitacon 35-300mm', God knows who made it however I quite like it and love the various 'bokeh' that it produces.
The first one is of my youngest daughter / model.
The second is a black flying thing that's about an inch in length that I spotted whilst walking the dog.
The third is taken whilst in its macro setting.
Anyway time to do a bit more work and thanks again for keeping me entertained and inspired.

Sorry, I saw it, it was different, reasonably priced, bought it and then started looking for info 🤔.
I have the Pentax 18-250 and wanted to see how it compares and to have a bit more reach.

Sorry it looks like I've bought the lens you were after :o I should get it by the end of the week so hopefully I'll have some time to play with it on Saturday or Sunday.
Once again sorry but I couldn't resist it with it being shall we say strange 35-300mm.

Sorry for the delay in answering but I'm busy working on my 'new' language teaching system but that's another story.
Cheapish is what I'm prepared to pay and thankfully I've found some real bargains, even on the net! All for under 80€'s some as low as 11.95€, however shipping can be expensive and costly. :(
2 x135mm
5 x 100mm (4silver, 1 black)
1 x 50mm (two months later and I'm still waiting for the guy to get his finger out!)
and another 2 silver 100mm on their way from the other side of the world.
I think I might sell a couple and look for some more Iscos: 35's, 50's, 180's or start on something totally different?

If you hadn't noticed, I like playing :D:cool::D
So, after an experiment the other day using only extension rings 1 & 2 + focusing ring I went out and tried it as a portrait lens.
The results are interesting but I need to improve my focusing and play with some camera setting so to reduce post editing. Have a look on my flickr
Hasta luego

It's available on M42 and Exakta, I have both, re the 'flange' I don't know 😞
However on the M42 I can focus from 1.5 metre to infinity, unfortunately that's not the same on the Exakta where I lose infinity. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the adapter I'm using, Alibaba.
When I get chance I'll have a play and see what I can do.
Oh and please tell me what 'flange' is, in my dirty mind it means something else 😊

Hello from Granada, Spain
I took the dog and the Panagor for a stroll this morning and while walking I saw these and started to wonder what they were? There were some very small Ladybirds in the area as well, so thought that they might be babies¿?
Please let me know

Hello Skodadriver
Yes, it's the same lens, brand new, still in its original box :) and I need to work out the green button metering, simply because I haven't got that far yet.

Dear MadMathMind,
#1 You are totally right about the tree.
#2 I need to learn more about post, as of yet it's due to a lack of time but when we finish exam season I will be able to spend a bit more time on it.
#3 I need to be more careful about composition and take more time, TBH I got carried away hahahaha.
#4 Composition again.
.#5 Plan the shots better and post in Lightroom.
Thank you very much, all points valid and taken on board; thank you again

OK, this has got me going, I currently own 2 Panagor's and I've ordered and will be receiving hopefully next week a Vivitar 2x Macro Focusing MC Teleconverter, so I shall be doing a complarison of them both. I just need to think/find an object / subject where I can control as many variants as possible, then of course I need the time to do it. It's exam season at the moment so things are generally HORRIBLE for me and my poor students.
Any ideas or do I repeat the coloured pencils and their shavings?

Hello everyone,
Well, yesterday I spent the day painting my daughters bedroom again, so, today I've been out playing with my cameras before my new Hoya 135mm f2.8 arrives next week :) I can`'t wait to play hahahahahaha
Anyway let's get back on track, as I said I spent the day painting my 15 year old daughters bedroom and in re payment I stole her for the morning to take some photos with my K-x's, one with a Pentax 18-250 mm and the other with a Pentax 50-200mm, I want to see how they handle because I looking for that wonderful bokeh effect. I got it in some but not as many as I'd like. The other reason is that they will give me some control photos to compare it.
Please tell me what you think because I'd like to get good at just about everything :) THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH BOKEH but I like it :) All comments appreciated as this is a steep learning curve for me as I spent years on 35mm
As always there are more photos on my flickr please feel free to browse and let me know what you think and how I can improve.
