Hello!! Iīm finally here with the DIY tutorial for the KP!!

First of all the l bracket is this one: L Bracket for Fujifilm XT100 Vertical Shooting QR Plate Hand Grip Holder | eBay

It is just an L-bracket for the XT100 which nearly fit perfect on the KP!!

The first step, is to file the little edge of the bottom plate of the l-bracket as shown:

Second step, is to make a new hole, placed in the middle, at 2,5 cm of the edge of the plate:

And third step is to add some foam in the base plate to add 1mm of thickness on the bottom plate, to allow you to open the intervalometter door:

Best Regards Jose

Well finally i have found a L-Bracket that fits nearly perfect on the KP. It only needs some adjustements, but it is nearly a custom one for the KP.

L-Bracket for Pentax K1 with Grip

Good afternoon everyone;

As happens to many of us, when I bought the K1, I bought the Grip, and for me, it is an indispensable accessory for my cameras, ergonomics, grip, aesthetics ... everything improves when you put the grip ... -Less weight and size.

Due to the type of photography I take-lanscape and astro-, it is also essential for me to have an L-bracket, to be able to place the camera vertically quickly ... And since I got my K1 a few months ago, I started looking for a compatible one with the K1 ... but as we all know ... every time one of us - a pentaxian - starts looking for an accessory for his camera ... He ends up losing his mind ... and with L-brackets it was not going to be different ... I found a generic one that works, but... every time I wanted to change the battery, I had to remove it from the K1... and I was not completely satisfied ... And the others that exist for other camera brands don't work either since the grip of our pentax has the thread displaced (I also tried one for the D5 and nothing) ....

Although there are brands of accessories that make specifics L-brackets for the K1 without a grip (kirk, RRS, markins) none of these brands do - nor will do, since I have asked them - a specific L-bracket for K1 with grip ... So how I told you ... I bought a generic and adjustable one and I lost hope of finding a compatible one ... until I entered in a chinese website -to look for information about the centenary- and saw the following photo (I made the red circles):

This made me think again that there was an L-bracket compatible with the K1 and grip and I began to investigate, and investigate and nothing... I did not find anything ... until I decided to translate the footprint of the photo on that webpage where they said: "L-bracket for the K3 with adjustment for the K1" Then I did a little investigation again to see if it exists anything for the K3 with grip, and that L-bracket was the mestos PD-K3HL, so I decided to buy one and try that modification...

The only thing that needs to be done, is just a notch in the back of the part for the battery tray as shown. I recommend you to do it manually...

Then if you want, you can also paint it, to give it a more professional look:

And here you have it finished

And working perfectly:

You Tube

I have to say that the L-bracket fits perfectly with the K1 and the grip like a glove, and the fact of having made it a small notch does not affect the integrity at all, it is hard as a rock. Also to say that the compartment of the HDMI does not open since the K1 is larger than the K3 and the lid is covered by the L-bracket. But honestly, I don't care because I have never used these outputs and I don't think I'm going to use them in the future...

Regards

Hello guys,

I am looking for an L-bracke for my K1-ii with grip, and fortunately I have found this thread... I have been looking a lot... And tried tons of L-brackets without success... But... i have found that the the mestos one for the K3 with grip with a little modification could work on the K1... Could somebody confirm this and if the hole on the grip is in place for the k1?

I have attached a photo of what I am talking about...

Thank you everyone!! I am glad you like this image so much. This motivates me to continue making these kind of photos.

I have merged the image of the sky in LR, an also the foreground one. Then blended it on PS.

The total time processing this photo was arround 5 or 5 and a half hours. You also have to take into account the PS file was about 6gb.. and it takes a lot of time to make any adjustment!

Best regards!!

I announce my return to the world of night photography with an image of the castle of Salvatierra de los Barros, and what a better way to do it than sharing with you one of those so spectacular and unknown corners of our land: This wonderful fortress of the fifteenth century so well preserved, located in the mountains southwest of Badajoz.

I was very nervous, the premiere of a new equipment does not always go well, but thanks to the fact that the night was perfect and everything I learnt during these years in the shades, made it possible to achieve something decent, or II think so...

As I say this picture is the first milky way I do with the K1 mark II and the the Irix 15mm f2.4 Blackstone ... I did not know what I would get with the equipment, but it has left me speechless ... The K1 mark II, is a camera made for landscape and night photography.

Regarding photography, the parameters are the following:

8 x vertical photos for the Sky:
Exposure: 20s
Lens: 15mm f/3.2
ISO: 8000
WB: 3750

8 x vertical photos for the foreground:
Exposure: 170s
Lens: 15mm f/4
ISO: 1250
WB: 3750

Best regards, and I hope you like it!!

Not too much, only a bit to re-compose the final shot, but only a bit in the edges.

Any tips for starburst with the Irix?

Hi laci, I'm sorry to hear that you have the same problem... I use a k5iis, but in your k1 the problem is way more visible.

I have just called to the store telling my problem and saying that i would like my lens to be replaced by another one. So I think you should contac with your store and tell about the problem, this problem should be known by Irix...

These days, here in Spain are like national holidays, so I haven't received any answer, when I recieve an answer I will tell you guys what happens.

Best regards

Hi everyone, Iīm writting to you today to talk about the Irix 15mm for Pentax.

I donīt know if you have read about my problem with my copy of the Irix (firefly version), which is de-centered (I have already opened a RMA in the store), there is a lack of sharpness in the left side of the lens, as you can see here in the files attached (upper and lower corner, left vs right)

Well, the other day I knew a k3 user doing some photos and he was using an Irix 15mm firefly, so I told him about the lack of sharpness in the left side, he said me that he didnīt notice anything in his photos so I showed him my test and told me that he will make the test at home other day to prove it.

Yesterday he sent me an email telling that his Irix is de-centered, exactly like mine. So, I would like those who have the Irix to do that little test to prove if you have that problem (you only have to print a template, and make a shot as perpendicular as possible), and to prove that it is, or, it is not an error in the assembly line, like it happened with canon lenses.

I would like you to upload your photos to see it, because here, in the spanish Pentax forum, I only know 3 irix user, and two of them with the same proble (me and the other guy)

Best Regards
Jose

Good morning everyone.

Yesterday I received my copy of my Irix f2.4 the firefly version.

I have done a lot of test to prove everything, and I have noticed that the lens is de-centered.

Here decentrado 2.4-Esquina superior | Jose Galvan | Flickr , in my Flickr you have a couple of photos where you can see the left corner is clearly out of focus compared to the righ even at f.8

What do you think guys?
I have already sent the images to the store telling my problem.
