Thank you for your reply. I suspected a failed contact switch of some sort. I will look into the service manual you linked. Thanks again.

I have a Pentax ME SLR and the lightmeter only works when I attach the Winder II. The batteries are new and in the right orientation. Shutter, film advance and everything works fine except for the light meter. When I attach the winder II, with batteries installed, the lightmeter works when half pressing the shutter release on the winder. Half pressing the shutter (with the film advance lever out 30 degrees) on the camera body does nothing.
Any help is appreciated.

My significant other just inherited a Asahi Pentax KX with the SMC 50mm F1.4. It had not been used for a couple decades. I was surprised it did not yellow over time like the M42 versions? Are they optically different? Or no rare earth metals like Thorium?

Thanks for all the replies back. To the question "which have worked for me?". I really like the Super-Takumar 50mm F1.4. While I also have the S-M-C version, I like the color rendering of the Super-Tak better. I feel like it has a slighter warmer tone (even though its not yellowed). I forgot to mention that I do have a pentax body, A spotmatic SPII, but no modern digital body.

Hello,
Just introducing myself to the forum. While I don't have any Pentax bodies (yet), I do use a lot of vintage asahi pentax takumar lenses on my Canon and Sony bodies. I hope that doesn't offend anyone. I think they are some of the best lenses around.
