I'm a beginner, and I have a chance to buy an old Stanrite Model 2700 tripod. Would this tripod be compatible with a K-50? Also, are there any quick release plates that i could install on this tripod. Thanks for your attention.

Thanks....I know my shots aren't much to the folks here, but I'm still trying to get used to where all the buttons and controls are on the camera. :)

I just bought a Pentax K-50, and I'm looking forward to learning a lot here. I spent 1990 to 2003 as a regional newspaper reporter spanning four states, where I got to use my trusty Pentax K-1000 for more than a thousand pics that made it into the paper (mostly b&w).
After I left journalism, I made the logical leap to truck driving, and I rolled the 48 until I retired.
I looked at a number of different brands, but in my heart it had to be a Pentax. I think the ability to use the old glass iced the deal for a Pentax, and the K-50 seemed like a perfect first dslr, especially since it's weather sealed. That's a big plus in dusty old West Texas.
