Focus for birds

I almost always use single point in AF try to focus on the eye and then recompose (prefocus on the tree or whatever is close), AFC I only use with birds in flight with auto 5 or 9 focus points (depending on camera) pre focus on where you think they fly by and hope for the best :) the DA* is a bit slow for that anyway but with practice you get some results. Practice as much as you can it does not cost anything to hit the delete button afterwards.

Its important you be patient, watch the birds where they feed, study their behavior and try to get as close as possible without scaring them away.

Attached a few samples see exif at flicker
(ok these where taken with the K70 but guess those focus tips work with most cams)

I don't have a lot of equipment to make his passion is photography, I can just record what I like by his technique learned from sports photography. This picture of me taken with Pentax K3II machine was old and 55-300 mm lens HD borrow from a friend. Kaakakaka ^^ hope of winning lottery method by K1 Pentax.
I love this device immediately upon seeing it, Pentax is my choice, but its equipment is quite expensive compared to me. ^^

This the first image upload I have attempted. Coming from a mechanical age digital language can be a challenge. An aside I might note. The weeds in the robin's beak gave me my first experience with moire as messed around with resizing.

K-1 MK2 Long Exposure Performance

Been experimenting a bit with long exposures. Not yet final conclusions but MK2 is working like KP in this genre - very low random hot pixel amount. Here is an example:

5 minutes @ ISO100. I could find only 4 hot pixels in Lightroom after a longish zooming session which is ridiculously low. The file survived heavy-handed postprocessing in Silver Efex.

This was the hardest contest yet for me. They're all spectacular and showcase the products well. I wound up voting for #13. Just terrific! Thanks to all the contestants!

The three princesses - in China!

So my current job is teaching English online to Chinese students. I live in Thailand these days so it keeps me in buttons and bows , as it were.

So I was having a discussion with a student about photography. Nothing unusual, it happens almost daily. Most are little unsure about Pentax (it has different name there anyway), but I had conversation yesterday and when I translated Pentax for him, he said ‘ooooooh....three princess. Very famous ‘.

It made my day for whatever reason.

I just thought i’d Share a nice story.
