Topaz Photo AI and the DA15 Limited: A Match made in heaven?

I have been iffing and ahhing about picking up PhotoAI or Topaz Sharpen AI (which seems like its heading for Legacy) I think id prefer Sharpen AI, do you (or any one reading) have any direct experience or thoughts on the two products in context to sharpening only (specifically around motion blur correction as that was my fav enhancement offered by Sharpen AI trial) - is Sharpen AI still worth picking up?

Thanks
Geoff

That's the idea, i'm not sure if a glossy paper would work best for this, or due to the inherent noise of the image it would work better on a textured matt paper.

Hey, yes multiple exposures', tried to time the arc of the light to get it in the same position each time as the frame was taken over the 13 secs...kinda worked.

A return at the weekend to Nash Point in Wales.
The forecast was for clear skies and this provided an opportunity to photograph the Milky Way and stars over the lighthouse whilst the waves crashed below.
When we arrived the the wind was howling and patchy clouds were racing overhead which were illuminated at each sweep of the light.

An overnight visit to Normanton Church saw me photographing this iconic location before and during sunrise where I managed to capture a beautiful astro landscape, and a colourful morning using my Pentax K1 and 15-30mm UWA + the 21 mm 2.4 Limited.
If you like what I have done here and the images produced, may I ask you give the video a like and share on social media. I hope you enjoy.

I was lucky enough to have been sent the new Mitakon Zhong Yi Optics 200mm f4 Macro 1X Lens converted to Pentax K mount. This is my first lens review/impressions video so please be gentle on me. The lens does produce some very nice images, and the colour rendition is superb, but its not without its flaws.

Hi & Welcome.
Who knows what Pentax is going to do next? one day its colour coded bodies, the next its rehashing old lenses, tomorrow it might be releasing an upgraded Q system, regardless, on thing I have discovered since jumping into the waters is Pentax might not have the cutting edge of offerings in technology what they do have dependable, reliable and delivers 99% of the time, Pentax just requires a more methodical approach to photography, which Is in keeping with thier Philosophy 'Excitement and Joy of Photography' - The results by many Pentax shooters speaks volumes in this regard.

Pentax K1 Live View Metering and Exsposure Issues

Thank you. Its isnt anything to do with the LCD brightness though. As that makes no difference to the resultant image captured.
I'll experiment with the C1:5 Link AE and AF Point = ON option toggle as suggested. Failing that i'll have to reply upon the OVF, which is a problem with shooting just off the ground and also astro photography, where the LCD live view is most helpful.

Pentax K1 Live View Metering and Exsposure Issues

Thanks Oldbayrunner. for the most part thats what im doing, the Live View display i'm using for compositional reference... rather than using it to determine my exsposure and settings.
But this is the point im making, if I then use the readings in LV to adjust exsposure, the resultant image is darker on output. ... If I then compensate in LV by adjusting settings to bring the exsposure back to the 0 point the next image is blown out... its very difficult to explain and perhaps I need to do a video on it so its clear, but the point im making is LV shooting is not consistent between shots if I adjust the exsposure to match the scene as if I was to see it via OVF.

---------- Post added 05-12-23 at 07:10 AM ----------

Thank you. I will give that a try. I'm leaning towards this is a fault within the camera, as this is relatively new phenomena im experiencing and i have been shooting with the K1 pretty much weekly for a few years now.

---------- Post added 05-12-23 at 07:13 AM ----------

Exactly this! - And if I adjust a second time within LV the exposure then ramps up or down by upto 2+- stops depending on which way I adjusted.

C1:5 Link AE and AF Point = ON

Thank you - I have tested multiple times, but happy to try again incase I have missed this

Pentax K1 Live View Metering and Exsposure Issues

Morning All,
I'm struggling with an interesting bug/issue with my Pentax K1.

via Optical View Finder (OVF) - Metering and correct exposure work flawlessly. The image captured matches what i dialed in

However, the above when using live view is metering anything between a -1 or a 3rd of a stop darker and is displayed dark on the LCD monitor
If I shoot the frame without making any adjustments then the image comes out underexposed.

Left Image = LV
Right Image = OVF

Initially I used the OVF to frame up and dial in my settings for shutter and exsposure. I then switecd to LV to zoom in and ensure focus as correct and how I wanted. I then proceeded to take the frame in LV Mode.
This is the output. Switching back to OVF and no other change and taking the frame again results in an image thats correctly exposed as judged by me.

If I then adjust the exsposure in live view to pull back the values to match the OVF metering then the resultant image is overexposed by nearly a stop each time, despite looking correct on the Live view preview.
This is causing me some pain as i can no longer use live view accurately, as I can no longer trust the metering and exsposure values its displaying. Its to ne impacting me on all lenses used, however I may need to qualify that by testing further.

Any ideas?

I have reset camera back to factory spec, running firmware V2.20
I have tried pretty much all combinations of the following below, I just cant get a reliable metering/exsposure in Live View. - Perhaps a camera service is in order?

Config:
C1:1 EV steps = 1/3 EV Steps
C1:2 Sensitivity Steps = As EV Steps
C1:3 Metering time 1 (10sec)
C1:4 Auto EV Compensation = OFF
C1:5 Link AE and AF Point = ON
