Most Regretful Photography Purchases of 2022?

None. I put the hobby down for a few years due to the bad memories it brought up. This year was filled with a bunch of ups and some big downs(Photo editing laptop was stolen and wife had a miscarriage). I started a new job at the start of the year that came with a huge increase in pay. This allowed me to purchase my 3 dream lenses; A85/1.4, A50/1.2, and the Zeiss Distagon T* 35/2. I also purchased a K-01 to play with and will hopefully have it converted to Full Spectrum this year. I finished the year off by purchasing On1 during their big sale. I also purchased my first home this year too. My son's soccer season started at the end of January and I can't wait to break out my gear to document it!

I seriously just purchased this camera 2 weeks and love it with my manual lenses. Good luck with the sale because this exact price I paid locally with a 3100 shutter count.

I was out at a tulip farm today for the opening of the season and ran into a fellow Pentaxian. Second one in real life I've met since moving to Huntsville, AL last summer. I'm not sure what lens he was using, but he was rocking the K-1. We chatted for a bit and he told me he just purchased it in January. He was a Super ME user back in the day and wanted to get back into photography. To the guy I met, if you are on here, it is always nice to met other Pentaxians!

Before I hit eBay, I wanted to see if anyone had one they were willing to part with. I'm fine with body only with battery, but would like it to include the 40mm XS

Thank you! I will look into it! My son's next game is tomorrow. I will get the SD card back tomorrow as well, so I'm super excited

The man seemed genuinely excited to see that lens inside my bag. I know most of the parents on the boys team and I would trust all of them with my son. Plus I'm relatively new to this city and it was nice to actually make a friend that professional at my hobby. Sort of like people that love to cook but don't do it professionally. I love teaching home cooks techniques they would never think of. YouTube will only get you so far.

I get the card back tomorrow, so I hope to post some Friday or Saturday!

Not really sure this is the right spot to post this so please move this to the appropriate if I'm in the wrong place.

TL;DR: Met a former Pentaxian and retired wedding photographer at my son's soccer game. He ended up using my camera to get shots of players for the game. He took the SD card home so he can do some PP and will return it to me at the next game. I made a new friend :)

I was at my son's soccer game this evening and generally I'm there to support my son and his team. Tonight I decided to bring my camera with a few lenses in hopes of getting some decent shots because my fiance wanted some photos of our son playing. I don't own anything past 200mm(K200), don't own a monopod, and most of my lenses are manual focus. I was going to try anyway. I do get on field access since I provide food and snacks for the players and coaches.

So tonight I was asked to work the scoreboard since I have done it before and no one else was available. I was a little bummed, but hey I got the best view for the game out of the cold. I kept my camera bag with me since I could go down at half time and get some shots of the coach talking with the players. When I got up to the booth, there was an older gentleman there getting ready to head out since the girls' game had just ended. He noticed camera bag and asked what I was shooting with. So I told him a Pentax K-s2 with a few lenses. He looked sort of surprised and told me he hadn't met anyone that used Pentax since he retired 15 years ago and that he hasn't used a Pentax since the 90s. He told me he was a retired wedding photographer that shoots mainly landscape now. We chatted for a few minutes and he told me was happy people still use Pentax before he left. About 10 minutes before the game started he returned and told me his granddaughter wanted to stay and watch the boy's game so he came back to the booth to get out of the cold.

He then told me I could go down and shoot the boys since he was staying. I pulled everything out of my bag and was deciding what I was going to use. I planned on swapping between my FA43 and my Nikkor 105. He saw my A*85 and told me I didn't know what I had. He asked me if I knew what I had, so I told him am just an amateur and would be more than happy to stay in the booth if he wanted to take my camera and whatever lenses he wanted down and shoot. I have not seen someone so happy in a long time. During the game he was all over the place getting shots. Towards the end of the game he returned to the booth to ask if he could take the SD card home for PP since he shot in RAW and would return it at the next game. He also told me he if I ever had extra free time he would be more than happy to teach me how to get the most out of my equipment and how to get better with PP since I'm still a noob. I made a new friend in a new city :) I love this hobby and regret stepping away for as long as I did!

I purchased a Nikkor 105/2.5 AI-S from a user here a few years ago. It was permanently converted to K Mount. I love using the lens and don't mind it being fully manual.

I'm going to revive this old thread since I came close to selling everything I have a few years ago and I am happy I didn't. I also want to see if anyone who posted over the years actually sold any of them. I didn't have a huge collection of lenses, but I would regret selling any of my lenses listed in my signature.

Hey everyone, I'm back after close to a 5 year hiatus. I actually came close to selling all all of my gear 3 years ago and even let go of my A28 and my FA77(purchased 1 week before I put my camera down). Luckily, my now fiancé talked me out of it. I picked up my camera after my step-son showed interest in photography while choosing his electives for next year. I really hope to incorporate this hobby with my fishing hobby now. It's feels good to be back

Thought I would chime in on this. I left my K-s2 dormant for almost 5 years. Long story short, I visited these forums for the first time in almost as long after my fiancé made a comment about how I always had my camera with me when we first started dating. She even talked me out of selling everything last year. Depression is a mfer. Anyway, I read through every post on these aperture blocks and I decided to fire her up after charging batteries. Not a single problem. I mainly shot full manual when I was shooting all the time, but took advantage of auto aperture when shooting low light. I tried full auto and auto aperture and no block. I hate seeing fellow Pentaxians have this problem all while the rush of shooting again was almost euphoric. I bought my K-s2 as my first DSLR and regret putting it away for so long. I have killer lenses like my FA 43, Nokton 58 and Nikkor 105 that are a dream to shoot with. Hell I got some amazing shots of my son during a soccer game with my beat up M 200.

I had a user on Reddit report me to Mods as a scammer because of a perfume I I sold him. Claimed it was fake and was highly upset PayPal wouldn't refund him since he used Friends and Family to pay. He didn't want to of the Goods and services charge. Luckily I had the original proof of purchase from an authorized retailer buried in my email.

What your favorite coffee brand and coffee machine

Absolute favorite coffee is River Road Coffee Creole. The perfect medium-dark roast. I fell in love with the stuff after having a cup at a diner right off of LSU's campus. I use a French press. I don't live in Louisiana anymore so it's harder to come by. So I usually drink Trader Joe's Kona blend when I'm out of my favorite. I am looking to buy a drip coffee machine with grinder. Any recs?

I started a new job recently where I am running a newly renoy dining facility. So all of the regional corporate people were out to assist with the opening. Turns out the regional marketing director. We got to chat about it for a bit and he mentioned he had never met a Pentaxian in real life

Pentax is native to Japan, so I guess every piece of camera equipment I own made outside of the US is technically exotic to someone like me who lives in the US :D

I'm glad to see you got the lens as well. I took the Super Program out Friday night in the French Quarter and shot a roll of Tri-X 400 with the A50/1.4 and another roll of the same film with my Nikkor 105/2.5. I'm sending them out to be developed Friday.

I wouldn't say exotic, just harder to find these days, my Voigtlander Nokton 58mm f1.4 fits the bill. My Nikkor 105mm f2.5 isn't exotic at all, but with it being converted to K mount it makes it unusual to say the least.

I purchased a Nikkor 105/2.5 Ai-S converted to K Mount for a mere $125 and have been enjoying it. I bought it for the Super Program I just received, but threw it on my K-s2 until my film comes in. A few test shots of Zekezilla
