Absolutely agree! The more medium format images the better. This is a great column and the equipment used is solely of technical interest.

To my horror I have discovered that five of my Pentax 645 lenses have been in a water soaked case in my basement. The lenses are undamaged but show clear signs of water contamination. I am more worried about the autofocus FA lenses rather than the manual focus A lenses. Any suggestions about how to safely dry the lenses would be greatly appreciated. Should I use desiccant or dry them in a slightly warm oven? Any recommendations for companies that service lenses also greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

Does anyone know if two Pentax DA 1.4x teleconverters can be used in cascade to produce a 2x teleconverter? If so what is the quality of the image produced by the combination? I am trying to assemble the lightest weight optical system for the upcoming solar eclipse. Any comments or suggestions greatly appreciated.

I had read that. I will definitely keep it in mind when my copy arrives. I assume that you use a press on the front control wheel to directly control aperture.

@itshimitis Many thanks for the very helpful information. It sounds as if the lens will work well as I hoped I.e., as a lightweight and portable travel zoom suitable for handholding. It is scheduled to start shipping on 13 January. Can’t wait!

@itshimitis great beach images. How do you find the 35-70 lens? I am waing for my copy, but have been reading very mixed reviews.

I find Negative Supply in California to be a great source for information and equipment for film scanning from 35 mm to 4 x 5 inches.

Great photos of the old Mumbles lifeboat station. Remember it well from circa 1950 when I went to Sketty school. My uncle Carl used to work on the lifeboat.
