From a recent trip to Buckskin Gulch. Twenty one years since I've been there. In '99 I was alone for two whole days in there. This time, there was 60 to 80 people in there.

Taken handheld. Topaz Sharpen AI made it possible to minimize diffraction blur. Have several plant/weed books, and am unable to determine the species of this one.

Very nice. Yes, I like the 28-105 as well, and always have it with me.

A bit warm last night at 100 deg. F/ 38 C, but had a very enjoyable evening with a fellow (non Pentaxian) photographer. I chose to focus stack two images (Zerene) instead of blending. ---------- Post added 05-07-20 at 10:24 AM ----------
Nicely done! That place is on my list.

I am also not a fan of composite images. Nothing wrong with it at all, but it's not for me. I'm sure you looked at the EXIF data and saw it was a 15 sec. exposure @ 3200 ISO (24mm). This, combined with removing noise, and sharpening, produces a fairly sharp image...usually. But, if you want perfectly sharp stars, and sharp foreground landscape, a composite is pretty much the only way to go.

Thank you. No star tracer. If you do, the foreground moves, making it blurry. You could make one exposure with, and one without, and blend them, I don't do that. ---------- Post added 05-05-20 at 08:08 AM ----------
Thank you. I like the foreground also. But it's just not the shot I have pictured in my mind.

Thank you. I guess it's just not the foreground I have pictured in my mind. I'm looking for a ridge with several Saguaro's silhouetted just the right distance away to have everything sharp at f/2.8 or faster. I've spent a lot of time in the desert, and have yet to find anything yet.

Shot at 24mm. Processed in Lightroom CC, PS CC, Topaz Denoise AI, Luminar 3, and Topaz Sharpen AI. Been a while since I've done night shots (several years), so I'm sure this could be a lot better. It is sharp and noise free though. I'll look for a better foreground next time. After three years from switching from Nikon, I couldn't be happier with the K-1. It's image quality and dynamic range still impress me every time I use it. I love the features, menu layout, and outside button organization. I see B&H has a 9+ used one for $1466, so I may pick it up as a backup.

Thank you very much. ---------- Post added 05-04-20 at 10:42 AM ----------
Thank you. It's not difficult, really. A clear sky, no moon, and minimal light pollution is necessary though. A f/2.8 wide angle lens or faster is preferred, but not necessary. Processing not a big deal either. There are many tutorials on the subject. Have some fun and try it sometime.

My fourth overnight trip to Kofa's Queen Canyon area in two weeks. This time to capture the full moon rising and setting over the Kofa Mountains an hour north of home. Used the all of the dynamic range of the K-1 for this one, and I actually desaturated the yellow moon to keep it as I think it was. Yes, you can see the sky is a bit splotchy, but I don't want to mess with it any more right now. Processed in Lightroom, Photoshop CC, Luminar 3, Topaz Denoise AI, and Topaz Sharpen AI.

Just a shot from scouting full moon rise in the Kofa Mountains north of Yuma, AZ. Using the K-1. The moon rose 9 deg. to the south the next night, so had to adjust location somewhat. I'll post those later.

Second time there in a week for sunrise magic. Guess I'll have to make another trip. Luckily it's only an hour away, and I can practice social distancing at the same time.
