All across NSW - can't comment on elsewhere - country towns are scattered with extreme Victorian architecture. This consists of verandas, chimneys and cast iron lacework. This is an extreme example. Armidale has some of the best examples of these buildings I have seen.

I travelled down to Dayton, OH for the eclipse which is about a six hour drive. Luckily the weather worked out and I only had to travel fifteen minutes from my hotel to a spot where I could setup. This time I decided to try a composite of the entire eclipse as well as shooting with my 500mm lens. I have never really done a shot like this before so huge learning curve involved.

A vertical version of a previous image. I focused carefully and checked my depth-of-field to obtain this near-far composition of scattered petrified logs on a ridge in Petrified Forest National Park.
Pentax K1 + DFA 28-105 mm HD at 31 mm FL and @ f/14.

T took shots of this with my 150-450mm, my 55-300mm PLM, and my 100mm Macro (all Pentax lenses....).
This, as indicated, was shot with my 55-300mm PLM. This lens can be remarkably sharp when shooting at anything reasonably close, and the 300mm reach, and minimum focus distance, plus it being very light and easy to shoot with hand-held, makes it very useful for this kind of shooting. We did some time captures of the eclipse here and I used two cameras; the K-5IIs with the Sigma 170-500 DG and the KP with the Sigma 135-400 APO.

Wanted to try light trails for a long while , finally went out with a new photo buddy tonight to try .
Tested various settings ,
Pentax k70 with smc pentax 18-135mm
Bulb mode using remote release to open and close shutter
Iso100
Took 1 image at f22 and 290 seconds to try and get the streetlights to starburst, most of the other images I took at f9 between 45 and 90 seconds .

This is a hover fly - I think Melangyna Viridiceps. I have been looking through my photos to choose a flower for the march competition. I haven't taken flowers seriously for a while. I came across this excellent picture.

This is the Balta Cockroach - Balta Spuria. It is native to Australia and a bush or wood cockroach so you will probably not find it in your house. I love the pattern on the wings and the transparent carapace
