I use Flickr as my primary site for posting my photos. If you choose to be social you can and if you choose not to it’s okay also. There are several people that I flollow and that follow me that I have chats with on occasion. The other great thing is I follow and am followed by people from around the world. One I can think of right off the top of my head is a gentleman from Tunisia. He has some amazing landscapes and portraits.
I used o have the pro account but dropped it after a couple of issues where I lost notifications for a couple of weeks each time. The pro stats are nice but if I’m paying for something I expect support when there is a problem. So I recommend the free account

I’ve always wondered if advertisements like this are for money laundering. Who in their right mind would pay this price for something other than that or some other illegal purpose.
Or do I just see dumb people everywhere. :)

I agree with the others about lens. If you bring the 55. You won’t need a flash. Because you’ll be outside the range of the flash. You are going to want a lens less than 24mm.

I decided to purchase the aluminum version of the Peak Design Travel Tripod. Would of liked the carbon fiber version. But couldn’t justify the extra $300.
Thank You everyone for all the advice and suggestions.

They live in the woods behind my house. I saw one trying to sneak up on some turkeys hanging near our feeder one day. It got a little concerned when the turkeys started coming towards him instead of running away. I think it realized that 5 to 1 weren’t very good odds. :)

Re-engineering the old lenses to correct all of the auto-focus (SDM) issues would be a good starting point. Would love to buy a 60-250 that I could rely on not to fail as soon as the warranty runs out.

To everyone who mentioned the HD DA 10-17. Thank You very much. I didn’t know that were differences between the original and HD versions other than the coating. I wasn’t considering it until someone told me to check the in depth review. That is when I found that if you remove the lens hood you get circular images. Which in my opinion is weird it is also pretty cool at the same time.
So it seems that the HD DA 10-17 is the way to go. I can use it on my crop sensor bodies as a standard fisheye and on my K1 for circular images. Just have to wait a little longer because it’s $100 more than I budgeted.
The advantages of owning bodies with different sensor sizes.

Here is a real simple example of how AV does not protect you and how you could be exploited by an OS vulnerability. Some AV applications have the ability to block execution of malicious software but exploits usually allow the code to be executed bypassing your AV.
I am a friend of yours and send you an email asking you to help me with editing a photo. I include a link to the photo. This link will include the photo and it will also include code that can attack an OS vulnerability. This vulnerability will allow me to install additional code say a keystroke logger or search your system for info that can lead to identity theft.
Moral of the story don't play games for protecting your data. And don't try and convince others that running old and outdated systems is OK.

First off I’d like to say congratulations I also sold a photo via Flickr. It was used in a children’s book. They paid me $150 plus a copy of the book. It was pretty cool as I am also a hobbyist. I was also asked by a government agency if they could use one of my photos on their web page. This also came via Flickr and I allowed them to use it for free so long as I received credit for the photo and it wasn’t used in advertising or to make a profit.

There are several things that could of happened to your lens. There is a very good chance that your lens worked when it left the factory. It could of been damaged during shipping or when stocked at the retailer you purchased it from. So before bashing a brand new product I would suggest doing what any reasonable person would do. Return it for replacement. If they give you a problem doing that. Then you have a reason to start bashing them.

IMO there is no beating original Pentax. But I have to say that the Wasbi’s that I use are very good. I can purchase 4 Wasabi’s for less than the cost of a single Pentax. I have also used them for over 3 years with no issues.

You stated you were looking for an 85mm prime. Might I suggest you take a look at the DA* 50-135. The optics on this lens are fantastic and it can be purchased used for around $500. A lot of people use it for portraits and weddings.

One of my favorite sayings is “Just because you can. Doesn’t mean you should.”. I look at WR as allowing me not to panic if say a sudden downpour unleashes on me or I would like to grab a couple of shots in some nasty weather. But to intentionally doing what you did and I’m guessing that it was salt water on top of it. Is tempting the camera gods to make you pay. Remind me to never purchase any used gear from you. :)
