A couple of weeks ago I purchased a Sigma 10mm F2.8 EX DC HSM Fisheye for use with my K-3 II.

The Lens field within the Exif data of photos taken with the 10mm fisheye end up being filled by Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG Macro HSM II. Does anyone happen to know if this is indicative of a broader problem?

Appreciated,
Matthew

AF540FGZ II for macro photography?

I am virtual window shopping for my first DSLR flash. If I understand correctly, a shoe mount flash would give me more versatility than would a ring flash. I do a lot of my photography while working and playing in the outdoors, so I am drawn to the AF540FGZ II in part due to its weather sealing.

I have seen a couple of reviews, however, stating something to the effect that the AF540GZ II does not tilt into macro position. Would anyone on the forum be willing and able to elaborate and/or speak from their experience with this particular flash? One of the reasons I am looking to buy a flash is to aid with macros at the scale of the attached photo, and if the AF540FGZ II is no help therein I would likely look at a different hot shoe mounted flash or consider a ring flash.

Many thanks in advance to any and all willing to share advice and experience! If it helps to know, I shoot my macros with a K3 II with a D-FA 100mm f/2.8 lens.

They don’t make ’em like they used to. I trawl eBay every now and again looking for old model Marshalltowns. They’re a fine tool for sure.

I actually got my first taste of archaeology out your way. Did a field school in Geneva at a Seneca site where the residents of Ganondagan relocated after the Denonville expedition. That’s some pretty country.

Hello all. I look forward to learning from members of the forum as well as contributing insomuch as I am able.

I purchased a K3 II and HD Pentax-DA 20-40mm F2.8-4 Limited DC WR late last winter prior to beginning a rock shelter survey on the Cumberland Plateau.

During the survey I purchased a FA 100mm f/2.8 WR Macro lens in the hope of improving my artifact photography.

My latest lens acquisition is a DA* 200mm F2.8 ED [IF] SDM. I’ve used it for nature photography and a tried it out for action photography at sporting events.

I’m probably going to hold off on lens-collecting for the time being in order to put some money back for a K1 setup. I’m not at all unhappy with my K3 II, but I think that a full frame camera would be worth the cost in that it would open up some new opportunities with wide angle and fisheye lenses and maybe a 28mm F3.5 shift lens if I can manage to find one.
