Great points guys, interesting ways to look at "comparisons" for sure; I guess the only safe thing one can say is that the two cameras are different. ;)

Wanted to see what the Sigma 18-250 would do with the KP.
Shot of the moon, late afternoon, but still "daylight".
Moon alone at 250 is a significant crop!
Both hand held of course.

My "Christmas" cactus have been nuts this year, blooming now since November.
First two below with CCD Pentax K2000 and DA 18-135.
Then for comparison, two CMOS shots with KP and DA 16-85, the last with 100mm macro.
The CCD just seems to be more "luminous" and a little warmer ?
The 100mm macro, last shot, shows the great resolution and detail of the camera and lens(when one gets the focus spot on).:o

The old K10 still renders a fine picture; fine as cat hair. ;)
Lens is DA L 55-300 at about 170mm.

Two more "things" or three to juggle does not seem like an improvement to me.

Yes, it should have a moveable screen.
I don't buy the excuse that the body would have been thicker or that the screen is somehow vulnerable; or that it would have taken longer to develop.
Pentax had three types of moveable screen in production and could have used any of those.
High or low shots are impossible for a "movement challenged" individual with the fixed screen; be it macro, high angle or near the ground, or for astro shots.
I just use my KP or K1ii, and leave the K3iii inside.

Great eagle pictures, and so true about the "scarcity" of the Bald Eagle.
For years there were no Bald Eagles around NC, I never expected to see one in the wild - but now it can and does happen.
A week or so ago my son called upstairs to me to "bring your real camera", so I grabbed what was on the desk, my new old K-x with 18-135 DA lens; so these pictures don't really belong in the 300mm + sub-forum, but they "should" have been taken with a 300 mm lens !!! So maybe it will be ok?:o
The eagle taken from inside behind double pane glass , he didn't hang around long at all; but there on the sand 75 feet away was a bald eagle. :)
I was inspired by the brewmaster's great pictures and a little embarrassed by my poor imitation;
not the greatest light or focus, grey day- almost foggy and the K-x is not the fastest to focus, and significantly cropped- but a once in a very long while opportunity.
Just wanted to share my eagle pictures.

Bought this somewhat unusual color K-x on the forum trader. Works great with my 18-135 lens.
Noticed Japanese magnolia, rosemary, jonquils, and ?? in the yard.:)
I'm not a horticulture expert so the ?? remain "pretty, but unidentified". :o

Trying out my "new" old DA* 50-135 just received from a forum member.
First two with the KP and 50-135 and the last with my DA-L 55-300mm(but on my K10D).
Portraits of my "in house" cat subjects.

A nice day in February, really "activated" the birds, especially this red-headed one. :)
DAL 55-300 on K10D, near 300mm; cropped significantly.

A workhorse is the camera you grab when you don't know exactly what to expect but want to be as "ready" as possible- at least that is the way I see it.
Some lenses are workhorses also.
Something like "every day carry"; for me it is a KP and 16-85 or 18-135.

I don't see a problem on the outside case of this K10; plenty of room for the "gas" to escape; though leaving the repaired body in the "open" for a few days would be a good idea.

There are hundreds of Pentax lenses on Ebay, and if you look at each model- prices will vary tremendously- so what is the "market" ? Any given "common" model has many copies to choose from; a "scarce" item
will have one or three- or none. Supply and demand determine the market for sure.
Value of used stuff is not likely 90% of the new price- even for a K3iii, nor is it 50% for such a recent and popular model- so offers to buy or sell such recent/popular models at such prices is not reasonable.
The offer of a warranty by a seller that can back it up is a plus, and worth something; as is a no questions asked return policy.
Just put them on the trader here or online somewhere, at what you think is a fair price and let the buyer decide to buy or make an offer.
