It was a wonderful night at the chapel of the good shepherd somewhere in 2019 when travel was still normal...

Which 35mm lens? (DA 35/2.4, FA 35/2, DA 35/2.8 Macro)

I vote for the DA35 ltd macro. I have it since 4 years and its on my K3 for 70% of the time, when I travel it is THE walkaround lens.
Built like a tank, all metal super solid. Takes every beating, I put a metal fix lenshood on it, as the original tends to slip back in when you walk around cramped markets and busy streets.

Image quality is excellent. And the lack of speed is not very obvious in that focal length.
I love the rendering and the lack of distortion is a big plus aswell.
Macro is a nice feature, flowers, food, animals perfect for that.

The limited series is perfect for my needs in traveling. People keep asking me why I put MFT Lenses on my DSLR :-)
But my travel set consists of:
- K3
- DA15mm f4 ltd
- DA35mm f4 ltd
- DA50mm f1.8
- spare battery

Every thing fits in the pockets of my cargo pants, plus a camera strap. Other otions to consider is the DA21. Just in case anything else than 35 crosses your mind.

IMHO the K1 and the DA ltd series have contradicting ideologies. The lenses are built to be as small as possible. The K1 is just built for FF but bulky. So if quality is the main objective, the bigger FA31 or FA35 or Sigma 35 1.8 are for sure the better fitting options.

Hi, funny you ask...
It was also for me the first time i used an external flash. Got it for xmas and experimented with it.

Mainboard died and got replaced. Since then everything smooth. Still love that camera.

Batteries i use only original, and my original Battery Grip is only in use since after the repair.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the support.
Yes it is annoying, if I would have bought it at home in Europe it would have been under warranty.
But here in Singapore. 12 month. No discussion. Stupid.

So the iterim outcome is, Main board fried. Short circuit.
How? Nobody knows. The technician said it might be from an impact.
Dont think so. it was alway in a camera bag for transport. He also menztioned that no moisture or stains were visible. So no waterintusion.

Needed to be sent to Japan for repair. 4 weeks and 350$
Not too bad, but I travel a lot and need a camera. Pentax almost lost me to Fujifilm for the X-T2.
But i decided to safe to money and spend it on flight tickets. So 300$ bought me a used K5 in good shape.
And in 4 weeks a will have two bodies and be a happy camper again, when my K3 is back from her trip to Japan.

Hi Guys,

Same issue here. K-3 for 20 month, perfectly fine. And now all of a sudden no chance to power on.
Just came home from a shoot.
Tried all. New battery, take out the batteries for a while, full batteries, New SD card's, USB to computer.
Just does not start.

Will bring it to service now but your stories disturbed me. How long will it last after the repair?
I travel a lot with mine, and I liked the rugged camera. Seamed unbreakable.
And now the electronics is an issue?

Did anybody do the repair? Any feedback what was the rootcause? Did they get wet, or a loose connection, from a impact, or just a power spike, or...

Thanks for any info on this.
