I am going to but in here with an off topic comment - this is the best thread for CCD cameras I have found.
I follow the excellent results created from the still superb K10D , although mine has proved to be too heavy for me these days .
I was really concerned having mislaid the charger for my 14mp CCD Sony A290 which was bought to use a 1990s Minolta 35-80 which I love .
I have a 1990s Pentax 35-80 replicated on the KS-1 which is great with that crystal clear screen .
Given that I have ex dem bargain Fuji X-Pro1 and X-T1 [ perfect as a follow on from CCD ] and the Pentax KS-1 I was surprise at how the possibility of not being able to use the CCD sensor of this so basic and outdated camera .
The Sony is just a so so camera , not special like the K10D so I was surprised that I was bothered .
It seems that these CCD cameras can become addictive !

Hi
I was no implying that Pentax users belittle the humble kit lens - indeed it's more on other forums , which I will not mention .
It seems that it is left to this K10D thread to champion inexpensive , but effective photography .
I adopted a 50f2 Takumar for a 1972 Prinzflex [ Chinon ] STTL and still have the lens .
I guess that many of us could just afford a 50mm and worked around the limitations .
Maybe this was a great introduction to snapshotting for me .
[ I am still at that stage !! ]
Thanks to Pentax , many older inexpensive lenses still work a treat .
I have some 1990s Pentax Zooms now , but 35mm suits me best . [ old habits ]
I can't forgive Sony for killing off the Minolta AF mount , let alone all these mirrorless cameras .
Respect

I have said that my small square Pentax K-01 and Fuji X-T1 is more comfortable for me tham my K10D as I never really got on with any bulky rounded cameras post autofocus .
However , I still have the K10D and would not part with it but use a Sony A290 with a similar CCD purely to use my 1990s Minolta mount lenses .
What I love about this thread is that you champion less expensive lenses and create great results .
There seems to be some downers on the standard zoom - as it is essential to immediately upgrade at vast expense .
I find the standard zoom from Pentax / Minolta / Fuji suits me perfectly - plus the Pentax 35mm f2.5 and Sony 35 f1.8 [ Fuji don't cater for an inexpensive 'standard' [ to those over 70 years when a superb 50 f2/1.8/1.7/1.4 came with the camera ]
It's so inexpensive to get into photography as so many entry level cameras with little usage , such as the A290 are sneered at as ' beginners ' , unlike the better regarded mid range versions .
My A390 with standard zoom and Tamron [ ex Jesops deal ] was £100 mint - only 'cos I could do with the 'waist level ' screen .
OK , I have other cameras , but £100 as a start up seems pretty inexpensive to me .
I buy all my cameras on close out or rejects - which are simply an indulgence to my analogue preferences - I don't need them other than low light shots.
Is there some sort of snobbery here ? It annoys me that we need all the encouragement we can find to drag the new generations away from one size fits no one smart 'phones which are trounced by any kit zoom .

Forgive me , but is justification is needed to adopt Pentax ?
I prefer being otherwise , especially as for decades I considered myself other-stupid due to a brain glitch - derealisation/disassociation/dreamstate .
Cameras are an escape and comfort zone for me .
I like my K10D , but also a much maligned/denigrated for being basic , Sony A290 both of which have CCD sensors .
Perversely , the stripped out simplicity of the A290 seems to work for me .
I have the Sony A35 35 f1.8 for low light , but miss CCD colours and hate the EVF .
Recently , I upgraded to a Ks-1 / 35 f2.8 [ ex-dem £320] which is good , but for colours and low light , the Fuji X-Pro1/ 42mm [£330 ex-dem] is best for colours and low light .
For me , strictly considered sharpshooter , it's the camera which suits my need [ and a way to contain confusion ] with no concern for whatever others prefer .

I bought my Pentax K10D on close out , because it was right for me at the time . Recently , a new K-S1 / kit lens and 35mm f2.4 @ £250 'cos I like the handling - just like my original lightly used Leica Digilux and Panasonic L1 body which I still take out with cheap 4/3rds lenses .
I have the much maligned CCD Sony A290 to use old Minolta lenses . Like the K10D - lovely colours .
Despite warnings about it's failings on auto focus , my latest is a new Fuji X-Pro 1 / 27mm @ £370 which fits in my bag .
I am content with the three systems - they are right for me .
Nikon and Canon ? Maybe I am just contrary , I like that my cameras are not seen everywhere .

I have about 15 Kiev cameras plus my film Minoltas .
With a mild autistic glitch , they are the most real to me .
I even have some Contax /Kiev hybrids built for me in Ukraine by ex-Arsenal ' Kiev ' techs -
Kontax II built from spares with Contax body parts and Kiev shutter etc.
Contax III with 1957 Kiev 4 top plate , controls and meter [ when Kiev 4 quality was at it's finest .
Rat Contax from a really rough example with black paint polished off and tan leather .
The other special is a Kiev III body with another Kiev 4 meter etc .
Probably a little excessive/obsessive !
