The same problem. Suddenly no menus, no picture on the rear display (after a shot the photo can be seen). After some action with the info button it works again. But the bug repeats. I think itīs a bug in the software, not a problem with the eye-sensor.

Many thanks for all that answered. Yes, the buttons are locked, the camera is carried on the strap. Iīll try the trick of Larrymc and inform if this helps.

There is a big problem with the autofocus adjustment on my Pentax K-3 III - after all settings (autofocus field, focus mode etc.) are done, and saved (in menu, the buttons locked afterwards) I take the camera in the mountains (some trip), and after about 10 steps all my autofocus adjustments are gone (another focus field, mode etc.) I have to make them once more, after 1 minute trip the same happens. The camera hangs on my shoulder. Other camera adjustments are not involved.
Does anybody know why ? What can I do against (it makes me insane !)

Yes, this says the manual. But I checked the settings - nothing suits (the cards are empty, other functions are "off"). Any ideas ?

Sometimes shows the upper display of my Pentax K-3 III a small exclamation mark (has the newest firmware). Sometimes it disappears. The manual says nothing about it. Does anybody know what it means ???

Because itīs the best (and the cheapest !, I mean the K-1 Mark II) professional camera on the market ! Awake Ricoh - we need a modern travel zoom 28-300mm, not a costly 50mm 1.4, who needs it ???

I had very bad experiences with Meyer-Optik lenses (manual focus) long, long time ago (1960-1970 on Praktica and Exacta cameras). They were all very soft and unsharp when full open. I wouldīt buy any of these cheap or expensive at all.

Yes, but if "F--" flashes, the shutter wonīt work. It have to be the C4 menu setting. Thanks !

Possible, this is that ! The sharp focus was not achieved, I will play with the focus again. The AF-switch was on M, therefore. Thanks for the help !

I have tried the 400-600 Pentax Mirror lens on my Pentax K-1, but the camera refuses to work. On the display F-- flashes, and the camera wonīt fire. I understand, that the lens camera contacts are short-circuited (the lens has no contacts). How can I get the K-1 to work with this lens ? Any idea would be greatly appreciated.

It is obviously the focusing screen/pentaprism/mirror displaced. Should be repaired.
My K-1 slipped from my shoulder a month ago and crashed on concrete with a "bang". What happened: NOTHING ! Some small scratches on the underside of the battery holder, mechanically an electronically fully functional ! A really professional camera.

Yes, yes yes ! It was the GPS. I think now it makes a new folder everytime one changes the GPS-address and writes new files there. There is no mention about this in the manual ! Thanks for the idea !

Yes, it occurs with all my SD-cards (Lexar and Sandisk, it occurs to both. Formatting the cards didn'tīt help). It has to be a software problem, I donīt think it could be a camera fault (it wouldn'tīt write the files to the cards at all).

Never removed the card throughout the session ! Card handling is set to : continuous file naming. That has nothing in common with the creation of file folders.

As a proud user of Pentax K-1 I am surprised nobody noticed a serious bug in the current K-1 firmware. In succession of a big photo-shooting session the camera makes over and over new file folders, sometimes after 5-10 or less shots. Some of them contain even 0 pictures ! Who knows a technique, that could change this conduct of the K-1 ? Maybe this is a cause for another firmware update ???
