Happy to start, first number 2, the man/wall/bike and then number 14 man and lock. Man looking round the corner just makes me interested in what he is up to.

I have now had a few months practise using the K3iii with the DA 300mm and 1.4x combination, its is a marriage made in heaven. I can not help smiling about these two shots. Butterflies at 2 meters and seal at 50m with exact same setup :) I have the wonderful 100mm WR macro but sometimes I wonder why I would switch lenses. Previously I used either the k3 or a K1 with 300mm and 1.7x and would never have got the seal image as they just popped up and down so fast in the water.

K-3 III - what is "deep learning with learning promises" in AF-system?

Frankly it’s marketing. I work in the field currently know as artificial intelligence and terms are bandied about to suit.
Deep learning generally refers to the use of neural networks with multiple layers. These have always been known about but up until now the hardware required was not available, today it is. The training is an interesting part, we only use supervised training, where we decide what the system is trained on. Unsupervised training allows the AI system to make its own decisions. I have heard many systems claim their technology does this but they soon fade away. Regardless it is the way forward.

So after a few days here are my thoughts. I bought this purely for bird/wildlife, 95% of the time it will have a DA 300mm and either 1.4x or 1.7x(worked best on K1) convertor attached whilst I am out walking my dogs. The other 5% will be 560mm when I am specifically out to shoot something. I say all that as I don't need tilt screen or GPS or flash, I just wanted speed and focus. First its a Pentax and so everything is where you expect it, not had to read the manual yet. I always fit a battery grip as my hands are big and it just feels better for me. Also I am lay so need to think about charging less. Cant say I notice it being any better or worse than K1 for how it fits my hand but I do notice walking around the 200g weight loss helps more than I expected. I am still experimenting with setup but the 1.4x does seem to be working well (used to struggle and hunt on K1 for BIF, so was not useable) and will probably stay attached. Not sure yet why I would move the focus points with the jog dial but I had a play and it is perfectly placed for the arc of your thumb. Focus is definitely significantly better, but until I dial in the right settings, I don't know how much. I cant get over the frame rate and that nice machine gun sound. OVF seems fine, does what you expect. I have 2 SONY V90 cards fitted and had a weird message this morning when it wouldn't allow access to slot 1 after shooting. Popped card out and back in and all was fine, pictures were all there.
Overall this camera seems to be exactly what I hoped for with the only improvement being the second SD slot could be fast also, but that is me being lazy again.
