I like the symmetry and the autumn leaves in the foreground, in contrast to the green ones below. Lovely picture :)

The red of the lighthouse stands out especially well with the mist in the background. The grass gives a nice foreground. A great image!

I picked these ones, in no specific order:

8184
3113
3299
1077
3424
3387
9627
7506

They have eye contact, or the eye is at least open, interesting poses and few distractions. Good luck on the calendar! :)

Thanks for all the tips! Here is a shot I have taken where the stem is clearly visible. I liked this one as well.

Alright, thank you for the help. I tried cloning away the bottom leaf. The one on the mushroom adds to the composition, in my opinion. I also added some more saturation and a vignette.
On the right, it has a tighter crop.

I took this and some more shots close to dawn, on the bed of the forest. Because I currently have no tripod, I had to take it at a high iso. This, together with the lens being great but old, lead to the noticeable noise. What I'd like is a critique on the composition and editing, as well as any tips concerning close-up photography in dark locations, such as the forest. I am thinking of getting a good tripod for some time now, so that will help me in that regard as well.

Please, be ruthless :D

She was about 1 meter away from me, so it was easy to make the shot, even as an amateur.

... with the same lens ...

Would a M 200mm F4 on an APS-C be allowed here? I bought one to test the waters before really committing.

Is it maybe possible for somebody of this club to post a picture done with the DA*300mm and the HD 55-300 (PLM), of the same motive I mean? I know this is asking a lot, but it would really help.

I also see alternatives in the F*300 and FA*300. If I see either of those for a good price, should I grab them?

So you think I would be better off saving up for a DA* 300? I saw videos of the af motor screwing up, or being damaged. Is this something I would need to worry about? I would be fine saving for it, since I really want to take great pictures. And if there is a tele converter in my future that works with the lens as well, then I will be happy.

I hope I'm not breaking any rules by asking a question here, rather than posting a picture... I was just wondering, if anyone could tell me if the new 55-300mm would be the way to go, if I was looking for a budget lens, with good AF and IQ. I would be using it at 300mm, for entry-level birding. My 18-135mm just doesn't cut it in that regard. I would also be open for more expensive lenses, but only those that cost at most 500€. If I need to move this post to another forum, please tell me! Thanks :)

Macro Reverse mounting prime lens onto extension tube

Update: With a full set of extension tubes and reversing the lens I achieve a full magnification of 2:1, seeing 12mm on a ruler when photographed. That's the right way of calculating the magnification, right?

I've been visiting that site very frequently, but would like additional input. Also, I asked about forum specific stuff, and this doesn't answer my question.

Just a quick follow-up: What would be my best way forward, after getting my reverse lens setup going, to get even higher magnification? My initial thought was 1x macro lenses, but I already got 1x magnification(and beyond) with this setup. Would any of you recommend a bellows? Should I open a new topic for this?

I'm asking because, at what point is buying all these accesories more expensive than "just" buying more expensive macro lenses?

Bellows sound promising because I am currently trying focus stacking.

(I think I'll take a cheaper option, not the NEX Adapter linked above :D)

Taking the zoom lens aside for a moment, the 50mm I have is a manual lens and has an aperture ring. My questions then are: Can you provide a link for this type of protection, while shooting? Looking for an NEX Adapter, I couldn't find such a thing. And my last question, my main one that is: Would a 49mm reverse macro ring be enough to mount the 50mm onto the last extension tube? It is not a terribly costly thing to buy, I'm basically hovering over the buy button.

Are you talking about the magnification of the lens alone, or combined with the extension tubes? Because with them it is over 1x

Thanks for the quick reply. I was also thinking of trying using two lenses, but the only other one I have is the 18-135mm Kit lens. I have no idea how it would perform. The step ring I would use there would be a 62mm(from the 18-135mm) to 49mm(from the 50mm), am I correct?

About the lens being exposed: You are talking about protecting it, while it is not in use, correct? Again, thanks for the help!

Hello my fellow Pentaxians! I have been visiting these forums for a long time now and finally decided to ask for some help. I discovered the world of macro photography and I have a question to ask.

I currently own the Pentax-A 50mm 2.8F Macro lens and use it in conjunction with this extension tube set. My question is: What is necessary to do, to reverse mount the 50mm onto the last extension tube? Is it a 49mm reverse macro ring? I am a bit lost here, hoping for some help.
