My K-01 is my only pentax camera now which i use for pretty much everything. The only two lenses i use on it are the pentax A 35-105, which i was lucky enough recently to get a very nice copy of, i would say it is probably my best 35-105 after owning two or three of these lenses ,and a pentax F 50mm 1-1.7
I know this is all about the camera but i would like to praise the Pentax A 35-105 3.5 , apart from not being able to use autofocus function on this camera it takes some great photos in combination with the K-01

Thats what i am talking about ,especially with maybe some of the older cameras where there is no value in servicing the cameras any longer although firmware updates may still be available. I have fried a couple of computers and have been able to re program them from the bios system if you have the full running system software like windows in my case , but thats another thing. Anyway great advice, i am always extra careful with updating firmware using batteries because you could have the same situation if your doing it through the computer and the power fails which is beginning to happen often here (south Australia) as anyone in Australia will tell you.

I guess a camera is not like a computer where you can save and back your system in case of failure , might be a nice addition .

I have never had any problems with updating firmware in my pentax cameras but i would be interested to know if in such a case that the worst happened like battery or power failure while upgrading the firmware ,would that result in a destroyed or unusable camera and if it has happened to anyone here? Chances are it probably has, i couldn't think of anything worse to happen to a camera. Is the full program available anywhere or from pentax to re install /program all the data in the camera yourself ?Mainly referring to the older model pentax dslr's in particular . Just thought i would throw it out there in case someone might know. Perhaps this should be in the "repairs and warranty" section so feel free to move?

I like this lens a lot , you could try and find another cheap beater/repairer lens for parts may be worthwhile. Its definitely still worth what you paid even broken especially if the lenses are good with no scratches or fungus!

To me film is chevvies (or old holdens here), the drive in , rock n roll and cb radios. My first pentax was a program A, with 70-210 lens , i bought a lens the other day and it came with a program A . Bonus, now i am having fun with it again and it still works fine and metering is all good. Now to get the cb out again! This to me is what pentax is about ,more than just a camera but a lifestyle! "madmen" cry your heart out .

Thanks for the nice comments, yes its hard to get photos of pets because they don't always want to stay still long enough while you go round up your camera and then you get one like this where its not been set up and that was just the way he was lying/sitting so it seems he was quite comfortable lol

Just wanted to share this recent picture of our new member of the family enjoying his rocking chair so seemed like a good moment to get the camera out. He was rescued from the dogs home last year. Taken with pentax ist*ds, A35-105 ,F5.6,1/250, iso 200 photo only cropped a little . Hope you like it.

Just saying hi from across the pond , long time pentax user .I have 3 pentax cameras, are there any other brands!
A bit old school , i have 2 ist*DS , one ist*D, one K-01 and an old Program A with a few old school lenses :) my favourite being a heavy old A35-105 . Also owned a couple of K models including K10 but i dont have those any more. Great site , tons of info.
