These are some of the photos I took with SMC FA 50mm f1.4 on K-1. I paid around 380$ for it new and that was at the time I still used K-5II. It is a good lens if you know how to use it. It can even be very sharp at f1.4 if you get focus right. It has nice bokeh to it and also it is auto focus. It has chromatic aberrations at f1.4 but it is manageable. These days I no longer use it as I shoot SMC K 50mm f1.2 when I want portraits with 50mm. Or I even use Zenitar 50mm f1.7. Why I don't use FA 50mm f1.4 more? Well, I like to use manual focusing. Perhaps, if I depended on faster focusing such as wedding, I would use it. But in my life I have time and can go with faster and very special K 50mm f1.2.

50mm f1.2 is shot most of the time at f1.2 and at such shallow depth of field it is in controlled environment (perfect for portraits) hence there is no issue if lens is fully manual. Actually I prefer this arrangement and always shoot in M mode irrespective of the lens (manual or autofocus). I only shoot in TAv when there is action going on and then it is autofocus lens. So I would recommend older K lens because it is excellent. But be aware of certain issues highlighted online with this lens and that is balsam separation. This one seems prone to it especially at this old age, however old but gold I'd say or like old wine.

I own K lens and use it on K-1. You may read my review in review section and see just some "macro" shots with it. However, it is exceptional portrait lens capable of capturing beautiful portraits.
