I didn't know for the better, as silly it may sound. It was a magical moment when I had my Sony for the first day and it has been pure joy after that. That said, I still appreciate Pentax what it is for and it's good sides.

I have to disagree with you. There is many big differences between K1II and 7RIV. The major one is the autofocus. I had K1 and I have 7RIV.
I switched because I shoot moving objects and people. With K1 my keeper rate was poor, with 7RIV it's excellent. K1 was
good for stills without anything moving(landscape), great camera for that. But I have to say that 7RIV is something out of this world compared to K1. For my kind of shooting it is like night and day level difference. About image quality I like more 7RIV, but this is more question of taste than some hard data.

I know some of you will say aloud "My Pentax can shoot moving objects too! You are just poor shooter!" Might be but after 12 years and K100,K200,K20,K5,K3 and K1 and countless pictures I have taken this is my opinion and experience.
I still use a lot Pentax manual glass and I love them. For the body side I never looked back.

About trio of lenses. Tamron has 17-28,28-75 and 75-180. Together with 7RIII it's something like 5000-6000€

Ok. Thanks I'll do that! Probably for my use both are great, so no reason not to take newer model.

Hi, I need new K1 cause I sold my old one. I have possibility to geit either new K1 or K1 II. Both have same price.

I shoot RAW mostly Between ISO 100-1600. Sometimes 3200. I probably like little bit better AF. But is the image quality
clearly better between ISO 800-3200 with K1? When does difference start? Is it ISO800?

I think they should make two models, FF and crop, with same or very similar body and identical software. Only major difference would be sensor size. That would be win-win for everybody. All the resources focused to "one" camera.

It depends where you live. If you live in Finland, options are: Samyang 14mm 365€ and Irix 15mm 429€.

Is a K-1 body worth buying if you only own APS-C lenses?

100% Agree. Even just with DFA 28-105 & DA50 K-1 is way better than anything I had before!

Now after around one month with K-1 my toughts are:
-Body weight is not any kind of issues. Lens I have for K-1 are quite compact and lightweight so I actually think that combined weight is less than K-5 + Sigma 18-35 I had before.
-Amazing camera, hard to think that anybody would be unhappy with it.
-I sold some of my old lenses. Some got new life with K-1. Those ones are way better with K-1.
-So much features and possibilites, that It will take this year to learn everything:)
-Overall K-1 does not just feel one camera in line. K100,K200,Kx,K5 and K20 felt always different version
of same camera. This feels it stands more it own (Which is natural cause FF). In a good way.

Where I live I had two choices. Samyang 14mm 365€ and Irix 15mm 429€. So price difference ain't big. I had long thought about which one to choose, but after everything I read, I came to conclusion that Irix is better option in case you get good copy (Irix seems to have way more variation with quality than Samyang nowdays). So I ordered one yesterday and hope that it will be good copy, if not, I will return it and think again if I want to another or take Samyang.

I just bought K-1 and had to choose between 24-70 and 28-105. It was after all very easy. 28-105 is amazing and compact lens with good range. Of course I would like to have 24 in wider end like everybody, but that is only minus. Otherwise this is amazing lens! :) For me K-1 with 24-70 is way too heavy to carry around all day.

I've had K100, K200, K-X and K20. I got my K-1 Yesterday.

I am blown away! I got amazing deal from one shop selling some demo cameras and lens with good price.
So I got K-1 1700€, 28-105 500€ and 24-70 1000€.

Before I get those I thought that I will return 28-105 and keep 24-70, cause low light performance of 24-70.
I tested first 28-105 and was shocked how good it was with K-1. I mean even I turned all lights off, I was able to take
decent shots with only light from TV. I guess 3200 ISO performance and good SR does the trick.

I was planning to keep my K20, but realized that I will not use it anymore after Yesterdays experience.
What comes to size and everything, I think size is not bad, fits hand as good as K-5 did. With 28-105 it compact package and easy (at least for me) photo with one hand. What comes to features etc. This is beast for the camera. As a long time Pentax user (9 years) I love the decisions they have mad about button layout etc. It is just joy to use.

I've got some old crop lenses. Samyang 8mm Fishey, Sigma 10-20, DA35, DA50, Samyang 500mm 6.3 mirror lens. + some old kit zooms. I plan to use ff and crop 8mm & 10-20 (still get good size pics and I PP anyway so no big deal).
DA35 and DA50 seems to work well enough even without crop. Actually my respect for those lenses tripled when I saw what they can do with K-1. Big surprise was that my funny cheap Samyang 500mm work as a FF without vignetting. That felt like a new lens with K-1. I've got some shots I love with that lens in crop body but with K-1 using it felt way better, I mean focusing felt way easier.

So all in all. I said go! Try to find used or cheap 28-105. That with crop lenses will give you something next level. At least I felt like that last night. I feel like there is no way back after this.

Only thing I'm wondering is, should I return 24-70? It seems I get even all neede indoor shots with 28-105 and I like the quality I get. So where I would need 2.8? Or should I make 28-105 + DA35 + DA50 backbone of my photography (mostly street, also some landscape and random stuff).
Normally money would be issue, but luckily I got some extra thousand cash, so I actually could keep that 24-70 and maybe I should with that price, but I don't find good reasons to do it. Any ideas?

Seven months before the successor of the K3II?

I hope they could make FF wide 55-300 PLM (or 70-300). Normal 55-300 PLM works with K-1 but one need to crop or use crop mode. Little bit wider lens would do it. It would be good price compact size tele zoom for K-1.

Around two weeks ago I tried to buy K-3 II. The shop didn't have it, so they contacted Pentax. Pentax told them that they don't manufacture K-3 II anymore.

So that probably means that same production line K-3 II had, was given to KP or was under modification to produce KP.

Of course Pentax may given wrong information to shop, but this is what they told then and also told that there will probably be new launch 26.1, which there was.

From that perspective KP is new K-3 II and replaced it.

I went to K-1. If that was their strategy, it worked! ;) Don't regret a bit.

55-300 PLM or non-PLM version to K-1? Vignetting etc?

I think I rather use FF mode and crop. But still unsure which one has more vignetting, or is there any difference..

Hi,

I'm plan to get 55-300 to my K-1. Why, cause it is small enough to carry around with another lenses I got. I know there is 60-250 and 70-200 options, but way too heavy. I know that there is vignetting with those 55-300:s, but I'm ready to PP and crop that away (Rather than carrying way more extra weight all the time).

I know that PLM has advances compared to non-PLM (focus etc.) But from viewpoint of K-1 is there difference with vignetting etc? I just try to find out that there isn't any case that older is vignetting less or something like that. If not, I think PLM is way to go. Anyone tested? I know that there is threads about PLM and K-1 already, but all of them focus more to the focusing itself and is PLM or non PLM version working with their K-1. None of them seems not to compare which is better for K-1.
