Those are all great shots, especially for being handheld at night.

Looks like NYC in 1932. Just need to superimpose a picture of the Hindenburg.
I love this camera.

I'm wondering if anybody can tell me what is going on with this photograph.
This was taken with my K1, with a 300mm lens from Battery Park in NYC looking down toward the Statue of Liberty. The statue would be just to the left, but this is zoomed in. The distance is several miles. Why are all of the straight lines, such as the flagpole and the cranes in the distance all squiggly? There isn't a straight line to be found. It looks like an impressionist painting.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have been using exposure compensation. What I noted above is that the Live View will only stop down to a max of -5EV from normal exposure. I will try using spot metering instead tonight. That is my problem. If I can stop down -5EV from the moon instead of black sky, I will have enough detail to focus on.

What I've noticed is that Live View will not stop down any more than -5EV from proper exposure, no matter what manual exposure you set. The outdoor view setting may help. I will try later. My cheap mirrorless Sony would stop down to black in the Live View. I was hoping I was doing something wrong. Maybe not.
The lens I was using is my Promaster 70-300. Doesn't matter what lens I have on it.

Thanks, the problem is that my lens focuses past infinity and the adjustments are very slight. The camera was set to ISO 100 in manual mode. Live view just does not stop down no matter what aperture and shutter speed I choose. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?

I'm having trouble manually focusing my 70-300 lens on the moon in live view. It never stops down enough for me to see the details on the moon to focus. It is simply a white ball no matter how much I close the aperture and reduce the shutter speed. I have a Sony NEX 7 mirrorless that does this easily.
What am I doing wrong? I've tried manually stopping down the aperture ring and this does nothing. I might have to get a magnifying eyepiece for the viewfinder, but you would think a pro camera would be able to deal with this issue.
Thanks for any help.

I actually was able to install it, but I get the splash screen then nothing. Think I will just stick to Lightroom. Do either Lightroom or Photoshop handle Pixel Shift files?

I have a brand new Dell laptop (Windows 10, 64bit, i7) that has no dvd drive. How can install DCU5 for the new K-1 that I just bought? You can only download updates from the Ricoh site.
Another question. I already use Lightroom and Photoshop, and have no trouble editing the K-1 RAW files with them. Do I even need DCU5 and Silkypix?
Thanks!

Hello everybody,
Just stepped up to the K-1 from Canon t2i and Sony NEX7 and couldn't be happier. I'm incredibly pleased with the quality of the images that are coming out of this beast.
I'm using inexpensive legacy lenses such as the SMC Super Takumar 135mm f2.8 and SMC Super Takumar 28mm f3.5, as well as the Pentax 50mm 1.8 AF and Pentax 100-300mm f4.6 -5.6 None of these lenses cost over $100 and exceed expectations.
What I've learned with the K-1 is that you can get useable images up to 51000 iso, which is just staggering to me.
Can't wait to see what else the K-1 has in store.
