This is a very dramatic picture. I wish I would have taken. Ansel would have been proud of you. It is a pleasure to nominate this photo.

My wife & I were chasing spring storms in the Mojave near Baker, CA. We were on our way to a somewhat historic spring on a gravel road when this system developed along our route. It was a fun afternoon watching the clouds and rain. (A tripod was used.)

Very good technique and composition. I like both the color and B&W. If there was such a thing as an industrial drama classification and think this would fit. Too many of us don't stop to think of the difficult and sometimes dangerous occupations it takes to give us the good life we live. Well done!

I have always assumed that Pentax seldom had major price reductions because of their relatively low volume sales overall. Today, I visited Barnes & Noble to buy a photo magazine. I was disappointed during my search by a couple of things. First, US produced publications have almost faded out of the picture. (sorry for that) The one US publication I found was an old favorite of mine, "Outdoor Photographer". It was the thinnest of eight to ten photo magazines there. It was an almost anemic representation of it former self. The majority of the publications were from Canada and England and they were very good for the most part. I spent some time looking through the photo magazines in order to decide which one was going to get my $12. In doing so, I saw lots of good ads. Many ads were full page such as Tamron's. Many others were less than full page. But, most of the competitors in the photography equipment market were represented. Except for one. Pentax had no advertising that I could find in my brief survey. If Pentax sales volume could be increased, they then might be able to have some significant promotional pricing. I met a young Cannon using pro at an air show who only vaguely recalled Pentax. (I am a Pentax user since 1968) ---------- Post added 12-20-17 at 05:05 PM ---------- I forgot where I was going there. Without a consistent and visible marketing program, I don't think much progress in sales will be realized.

I love my K3. I replaced my K20 with it and although I loved my K20, I love the K3 more. I like using the Pentax
16-45 on it. At 75 years old, I don't get that excited about much anymore. But, when I go out on a shoot with
my K3, I get very pleased. My wife says that my having to study the different functions available on the K3 helps
my memory. I don't know why she would say that. I can't recall ever having a memory problem.

This photo was originally made on Velvia 100. It was then scanned with a Canon FS 4000 Scanner. The shutter speed and f stop are just estimates. They should be fairly close.

:lol:Hi! I have been lurking on this site for years and have learned many valuable things. So, I decided to join and to help support the site. It is the best site for Pentax users and others interested in photography. I have a son who has many of limited prime lenses from Pentax as well as Pentax DA zooms. I am far from being an expert; but, I thoroughly enjoy nature photography.
