Without changing your flash set up from your Canon one, the best DSLR is the K3 mk1. It has the most powerful flash and is easy to change the flash output and as long as you stay to ISO 800 or lower, which with flash you most likely will, its image quality is the match of later models of Pentax APSC cameras.

I have been wanting a capable film PAS camera for some time to slip into a pocket. I have tried the Olympius Mju II in the past but it does not suit me as despite its cracking lens, weather sealing and tiny size, I find the grip too small and slippery to get consistent results. My favourite was always the Yashica T5, but I am unwilling to pay the silly money they go for these days. So I have one totally new acquisition, a Ricoh FF-9, which looks like it may fit the bill (£35 including battery) and a not so new one, a Minolta AF-c, which I actually picked up for £5 from a charity shop in 2017, but not trusting it never used at the time, upon which it got buried and lost amongst my gear graveyard. It seems however, that it does actually function so I will be testing it over the next week or two with film. I hope it has no issues, as it seems to be the perfect design for me. The Ricoh is a bit plasticky and noisy, but it fits my hand well so it looks like a have at least one camera which fits my latest "need".

Nah. It's definitely an FT Ql. No other camera has that combination of self timer/DofF lever on one side of the lens mount and mirror lock up on the other in just that style. Though seeing as she died in 1954, it's obvious a certain amount of artistic license has been used in the image.
According to the V&A Museum's website FK's initial artistic endeavours were photographic, which may well explain the image of her with a camera.

Actually, I should have realised that the Canon Pellix has a fixed mirror so does not have a mirror lock up. So, it's definitely a FT Ql.

No, it's either a Canon FT Ql or Pellix. You can tell by the shape of the depth of field/self timer lever on and the separate mirror lock up lever, either side of the lens mount. The FT Ql is my favourite Canon due to its lovely shutter, the implementation of the stop down metering and most of the FL lenses having their aperture at the front of the lens barrel.

I have one for Nikon F, one for M42 and one for PK, plus an SLII version for PK. They all look lovely on film. The SL in PK is not good on digital and the SLII is on my K1 but not on my KP. When I had a Nikon DSLR (D600 then Df), the Nikon SL was perfectly fine. As I said, I can't explain why some of these lenses behave the way they do.

I seem to have the same problem (?). Standard lenses just seem to keep breeding in my household, though in my case it is anything between 40mm and 58mm, or equivalent. It started off as a search for the ultimate standard, but now I realise that they all have their different charms, quirks and sometimes downright annoyances, so now I just pick one as the mood takes me. As I shoot different formats, both film and digital, my collection is alarmingly large.

I have done many comparisons of different vintage optics - though usually on APSC via my Fujifilm X-T1, though also old K mount glass on my K3, KP and later K1 ii cameras. These are my observations:-
1. Some lenses perform better on APSC than FF, some vice versa and some more or less the same. Why this should be I have no clue but according to my eyes it is so. The most notable examples in my collection are the K 50mm f4 Macro which is wonderful on my KP and K3, but distinctly disappointing on my K1 ii, and in complete contrast my M 40mm f2.8 is pretty decent on the K1 ii and downright poor on the APSC cameras.
2. Some lenses perform to a very high standard on film but disappoint on digital. My Zeiss T* 50mm f1.7 Planar, is excellent on my Contax film bodies, but poor on my X-T1.
3. Some lenses perform better on one sensor than another of the same size (if not the same resolution). My M 200mm F4 is noticeably better on my X-T1 compared to my K3 or KP.
4. High quality modern rangefinder lenses I have from Voigtlander perform very well indeed adapted to Fujifilm cameras.
I can only conclude that whatever your digital system, there are no guarantees about what to expect from any vintage lens. It really is a case of taking each lens as it comes and just sucking and seeing. Thankfully, most perform to a decent standard and a lot of fun can be had (and a lot of time wasted!!!) with all the experimentation involved. I was very disappointed with the Zeiss T* performance as I really do like the lens on film and it's beautifully constructed and wonderful in the hand, but, in contrast, I have a K mount Helios 58mm f2 which is agricultural in construction and handling, but cheap as chips, produces both gorgeous images (especially stopped down a bit), occasionally throws some weird colour cast curve balls and therefore is a real pleasure. So it is worth continuing with the trial and error process as long as one does not invest too much money on a particular lens, and thereby end up with buyer's regret.
Having been doing these comparisons for a few years now I would recommend that any new purchase can fulfil a double purpose. So I find 35mm lenses are useful as they can be a moderate wide on FF or film or a standard on APSC. 50-58mm lenses similarly provide dual use on different formats and 50mm Macro lenses can even provide three (or is it four?) roles, standard lens with close up capability on film or FF, short telephoto with an even more useful close up functionality.

I have long wanted one, but many are in ugly condition. This one has a couple issues, but fortunately just cosmetic ones. I had been looking at Fuji GS 645s, but why pay several hundred pounds or dollars just for the convenience of a built in meter, but which have a weakness for light leaks.
