Baking bread, High Atlas, Morocco, September 1997. Z-1p with smc Pentax-FA* 1:2 24mm IF AL on Kodak Ektacolor Pro Gold 400 (GPY) film. I posted this before years ago but this is a new and better scan. The tripod I used here is still living in the High Atlas and we meet every couple of years.

To get to the minimum focus distance you have to be only about 10 inches or around 25 centimeters from your subject. With a 20mm lens on a FF camera that is really close.

I put the Sigma 180 F3.5 Macro on the K-1 with the Sigma 1.4 TC as well. Also had two Flashpoint MF12 macro flashes on the end of the 180.

Soooo. after many years shooting only APS-C bodies (everything from the K110D to todays KP) I acquired a decent used K-1 MKII last year and only last week I scored (eBay) the elusive SMC-F 28mm/f2.8 lens which I understood to be somewhat magical. I did use my Irix 30mm/f1.4 in the past half year but wanted something small for travel. What also attracted me was the 49mm filterthread - same as the DA35mm/f2.4 and the FA43mm/f1.9 Ltd. which means I can use my 49mm infrared filters (550nm and 720nm) on my full-spectrum K-3 body with the 28mm.

First impression was a bit of a let-down TBH. Focus confirmation in the OVF was twitchy and the shots at f2.8 missed that very distinct transition from in-focus to OoF on the subject and directly in front and behind it. That is....until I dialled in some AF fine tuning after printing out the Migalvanas focus calibration chart and printing it out at 200% size across 4 pages A4 stuck together (resulting in an A2). Turned out this lens needed quite a bit of adjustment (+8) but once I had that finetuned and dialed in...OMG!!!!

Noam honestly had no bloody idea why I was getting in his face like this but he is an attention seeker and any attention is way better than no attention after all!

So I'm experimenting with the new-to-me full-spectrum K-3. Here some shots with the DA16-85mm with a 720nm filter and the DA35mm/f2.4 with a 550nm filter. PEF conversion as always in Darktable.

Because i've spend a bit to much money on auctions this month :o , i'll have to make do with my D70s for my IR shooting, the 7100 conversion will have to wait ;) Hre's a shot, strange effect with the piano maintaining its "natural" wood colour, while the tulips become allmost ghost like.

After almost 20 years of no film cameras, these two beauties arrived this week:

Asahi Pentax "AP"

And its contemporary, the Takumar 58mm f2.0

Certain bad influences (you know who you are) put me on the search for the Takumar, but the combination was a fortunate find. Fresh from Japan, in remarkable condition. I guess I need to go buy some film...

There is no depth of hell low enough and no punishment merciless enough for whoever it was who invented the touch screen.

I was going to add more, but there's probably a forum rule against imagining some wretched scientist/engineer suffering eternal tortures of the foulest and most depraved nature that my mind can conceive.
