I wish to report on the repair I carried out that may be of some encouragement...
My K-50 is 2.5 years old, 3200 activations and in a few hours, I had the camera apart, (green) solenoid out and horseshoe filed down slightly, cleaned and back together all working fine and also one week on.
I followed the earlier Russian instructions and also moved the magnet the furthest distance from the coil windings. I'm competent with a soldering iron (so find a friendly engineer if you're not). I pushed the 20+ screws coming out of the camera into sketches of the bottom and top of the camera so they all went back in the same holes.
I had been offered a £150+ repair at a Pentax dealer that would "Replace mechanical assembly. Repair shutter mechanism and mirror mechanism..."

I'm in the UK and my K-50 has gone back to the shop with aperture block after 2.5 years. The shop asked the Pentax rep. if some concession could be given but so far the answer is no despite another faulty Pentax coming in in the same week. The Consumer Rights Act is unlikely to help because the K-50 has clearly worked for 2+ years so when sold was not faulty.
I've yet to get the quote for a repair... I can see myself just using the aperture ring lens I have.
