What a great picture you haven taken there! The 3D effect is astonishing!

I love your single in challenges. It's a joy to see your work taken with Pentax-M prime lenses. You seemed to have used the november quite well for this MoNovember challenge. I like especially the straight lines playing with the dof.

Technical question to DA 55-300 ED disassembly

That was easy! I was lucky to see the glue marks of the thread lock. Now I'm the proud owner of a clean HD 55-300 WR. I recommend everyone doing a focus test before the final assembly to make sure, everything is in the right position. I used an object at infinity position and at minimal focus distance and checked if I'm able to get a sharp image wide open at the whole range from 55 mm to 300 mm.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I want to separate the lens group, this is how far I got. Do I get you right that you mean those two rings and I "just" have to unscrew them?

A good advice to add a mark for the assembly. I definitely will do that. I'm not in a hurry. So if I don't get it open by hand I will try to build myself a tool :)

Hello Sider, the service manual helped a lot. Thank you very much. I'm curious if you really disassembled the lens group. If yes how did you do that? Can you try to explain that? I'm asking because I just removed the front element to remove lots of dust which was behind the first element. Unfortunately there is a bit of dust between those lenses of the front element and I have no idea how to open it. Thanks a lot!

Pentax HD DA 55-300 WR Removing Front Element

Found the answer and managed to clean the lens with the help of the service manual of the DAL 55-300 if found in this thread:Technical question to DA 55-300 ED disassembly - PentaxForums.com

To remove the front element you have to remove the sealing and unscrew the tiny screws behind them. Be careful not to brake them. Then you can screw out the first ring and then remove the front element.

Hi Guys,

I just bought that lens second hand with lots of dust behind the front element. I want to remove the dust but don't know how to remove the front element. Has anyone done that before and can give me some advice? Thanks a lot! :)

Travel Walking along the South West Coast Path

Hello all,

last September/October my girlfriend I walked a part of the South West Coast Path in Cornwall. Now I had some time to sort out the good and the bad pictures.

#1: After our arrival we stayed one day near St. Ives in Carbis Bay to explore that lovely place.

#2: Even though we stayed there in late September the flowers were still colorful

#3: Palm trees! In England! Nothing special in Cornwall ....

#4: There are lots of nice cafés at the harbobur

#5: A watch tower looking for conspicuous activities at the sea

#6: First view of the Atlantic

#7: St. Nicholas Chapel

#8: We were lucky, the St. Ives Coast Guard Station had an open day and as a visitor you could take a closer look at this "little" beast.

Love what you're doing with these old gems, I'm a little bit jealous of your M*300/4!

Hey folks,
last October I went to South Tyrol (Schenna) to go hiking. A horse-racing event took place in Merano and I decided spontaneously to visit. A great opportunity to use the M200 again as I've never used it for sports.

Hey folks,

my name is Patrick and I stumbled over that forum and its lens database, when I was looking for information concerning an old SMC Pentax-M 50/1,7 lens because as I student I wasn't able to afford high end lenses. That was about 6 years ago. Since then I kept reading your reviews and threads but I never registered. Now I thought its time to give it a try.

Even though I'm no student anymore I still love the old SMC Pentax-M primes and even bought an Pentax ME. But the most time I use my digital Pentax K-r, a bit old but still working without any flaws.

Nice greetings from Germany and have a nice Sunday

Patrick :)
