White and red Fritillaria meleagris, photographed using the tiny Pentax Q7 with the 08 wide zoom at 4.2 mm, at the site "Kungsängen" from where this flower had its Swedish name "Kungsängslilja" ("Lily of the King's meadow"), just outside the city centre of Uppsala.

margin of error for shutter speed?

I thought the point of taking notes of the exposure data was to understand how the lens renders at different apertures, what shutter speed is short enough to avoid camera shake with one lens or another, to freeze subjects in motion etc. Not that we should trust notebook(s) rather than the camera for exposure value... But this probably not at all what the OP ("doing an experiment") was asking about.

Finding stuff. How lucky are you?

Lost the minimal screw-on cap of the DA40 in my parents' garden in november two years ago, on the day when the first snow had come. Seemed impossible to find in the grass so had to give it up and replaced it later on. But what is hidden in snow comes forth in the thaw, now I have two... Lens caps for the Q lenses seem easy to drop but sofar I have always found them again. Less lucky with the tiny Q mount shield lens. Had it in a pouch (for glasses), neither the pouch or the bag I had on my bike rack were closed well enough and after riding about a km I realised it was gone. Went back to look for it in the roadside, impossible of course. The value was about the same (cheap lens/ expensive cap!) but it felt worse to lose a whole lens... :(

Getting aperture control block on my K-S2 :(

I had the aperture block problem with my K-S2 last summer, just after owning it for two years so just out of warranty [emoji52]. But when I contacted the Pentax repair partner here in Sweden they told me that Pentax had extended the warranty to three years for this specific issue, so I could just send it in and have it repaired for free! Warranties vary in different markets but this is a known issue, so always check what the terms are before doing anything else

Q7 + Schneider-Kreutznach 13/1.5
I like this lens for it's sharpness and character! But manual focusing takes some patience compared to the Q lenses. Slightly cropped (would need some more to get rid of the vinjetting completely)

Original Q-style or MX-1 stype modern camera?

This doesn't really make sense, does it? Since the Q7 has the same sensor as the MX-1 if I'm right. Then the Q7 also gives you all the advantages of interchangable lenses. Glad you found a Q7, I have one since almost a year and have enjoyed it quite much. I don't know about the Fuji options but better Af and a viewfinder would of course be welcome improvements. Transfer to phone works very well with a Toshiba flashair card for me.

What processing software do you use with your Pentax Q series?

I am also a Q7 user since less than a year, and looking for editing solutions, like you buberfan. So my thoughts may not help you much but I am also keen to hear about other people's ideas. I also mainly use DxO for editing, of raw files from my K-S2. The editing I do is mainly just raw conversion and some global adjustments (rarely local editing) and DxO is perfect for this, especially its great noise reduction. So, when i bought the Q I really thought this noise reduction would be perfect for it but then found out the raw files are not supported. Not too keen on a LR subscription, but DxO does lack the management/DAM component. Then I tried Zoner but I never really got on with it (maybe its still good if I only took the time to learn how to use it properly, now I mainly use it to import and rename files from the SD cards). Then I tried Luminar, which I am still trying to learn but am quite happy with. But it is not great in stand-alone mode, probably better as a plugin. When I bought it they also promised a DAM component which still hasn't been released, so it is not a complete solution. I was also led to believe that I would be able to use DxO as a module within Luminar (like many people use DxO, or Luminar, as a LR plugin) but it does not seem to work like that in practice. I still don't know if it will once the Luminar DAM modul will eventually(?) be released. I can see the point in using the Pentax original software like barondla's suggestion but then my workflow would start to look really complicated with many different softwares for the two cameras I have and the very basic editing I do. I think Luminar, if it could handle file management and use DxO as a plugin, could work for me. Then I could have the same workflow for two cameras, and make use of the two softwares I invested most in and like best. If that will not work out, would it be possible to use some older, cheaper, stand-alone version of Lightroom for this (using it for managing the files and as a shell for the DxO and Luminar plugins)? And then of course, the workflow is further mixed up by editing on the mobile...
