benjikan:
Mention a fullframe camera with a 100% viewfinder to them.

Ivan:
Wow, that's really good, seems to work better on the CCD than on the CMOS. That algorithm seems to leave some clumpy "grain", but that's the problemwith luminescence noise, it's impossible to get rid of. I see little loss of details (that spoon is amazing). If it's possible to make the "grain" finer, then that would be even better, because I find the finer "grain" much less objectionable. The result looks similar to the method used in the FZ-50, but much better. I can send you some noisy K10D raw files, if you want.

trang78: You don't happen to have 100% crops of the 85 and 77 lying around, do you?
*Yes I am a pixel-peeper*

Do you mind posting 2 100% crops of the same thing, one shot f/1.8 and the other f/8?

roentarre: Thanks for the delightfully informative reply. Where do you get these diagrams? I can't seem to find them on Pentax's site. Do you possibly know where to get MTF curves also? *bookmarks for future reference*

FA* 85mm f/1.4 vs. Limited 77mm f/1.8

I am in *need* of a moderate telephoto. Not saying that I will buy one now, but I need something to dream about. Which is better, the 85mm or the 77mm? Is this really a fair comparison? The 85mm is faster, longer, has a *, and costs more. While the 77mm is shorter, slower, costs less, and is Limited.

My problem is that I just tried to shoot a concert and didn't get any good shoots.
I am aware that photographer can count more than the gear, but using the Kit Lens instead of a fast telephoto doesn't work. At some point I went up to the stage and just used my 31mm (it was a friendly sort of concert, nothing professional).

As a cheaper solution would you recommend the A* 85mm f/1.4? It sounds good. In this case I would also get the magnifying eye cup. My lenses don't seem balanced (31mm and Kit Lens) I must amend this with a good telephoto. Am I now going to be a victim of LBA.

Secrets of K10D (Part 3 of 3): The IPU

I was of the opinion that the K10D was marketed towards people who are more experienced with digital cameras. As such the sharpness of in camera jpgs does not matter. This is due to the fact that, these people would either post-process their jpgs or use raw. I believe that there is a silent majority of people, who think the same way.
*NOTE TO PENTAX*
Please don't make the jpgs in the next camera over sharpened, I want 0 sharpening to really mean 0 sharpening.

End of Production of FA lenses?

For me this really is a the sky is falling comment, because I love to crop and also to print my photos at size like 12x18, I get great prints from the K10D by the way, but imagine more cropping and bigger prints. You know, the whole bigger and better thing. Maybe I should switch to Canon. They seem to be the only ones interested in fullframe. Then again, just did the math and a fullframe sensor with the same pixel density, as the K10D would have only 13.5MPX. I was just comparing the (Canon) 5D to the K10D and it seems to have much less noise. Although I like the noise of the K10D as it has a consistent texture, similar to grain. The film camera compatibility problem is important too. It would be bad PR if Pentax simply stopped producing lenses for the film crowd. I am confused.

End of Production of FA lenses?

I was joking about getting all those lenses, all I need is a wide, normal, tele, and a macro. With the end of the FA line I would imagine the lenses to soar in price, as many still shoot film.

Fa* 85mm f/1.4 located here. (I know that it is backordered, but I only had to wait for two weeks till they got the 31mm f/1.8 back in the end of December)

I was hoping that the K1D would be full frame as this seems to give bigger pixels without sacrificing resolution. Also I will get a film camera soon, AFAIK, these do not take DA lenses. I paid for the full lens, now I want to use all of the glass in it.

I think this is front focus...

I have a K10D and I do not suffer any front focusing issues with either my kit lens or my FA 31mm f/1.8. So I guess that this is just a problem that a minority of users have. Definitely not some thing I would worry about.

Somebody said, that Pentax will end production of FA lenses, as they move from Japan. Is this true? If yes, then I guess no chance of a fullframe K1D, right? If it is, then I must quickly buy the FA 43mm f/1.9, FA 50mm f/1.4, FA 77mm f/1.8 and FA* 85mm f/1.4 (already have the 31mm f/1.8).

Does anyone know any place in Brooklyn that does e6 film? The Rite-Aid by my house said that they must send it to Kodak for processing, even though it's not Kodachrome.
