Bang for Euro in my case. There was no other camera in that price range with the mix of features of the K200D. Want easy, shoot automatic, want pro, choose M. Shake reduction works. Sum up how many € you save each time you buy a lens without stabilisation in it. You can gather up a nice collection of primes for low prices (well... that used to be the case). Very nit community behind Pentax, always helping out. The canon 20-30-40D was a better fit in my hands, but a battery grip changed that, and the balance is better too. I really have no negative points except for the limited burst you have. For the price, there is no better deal on the market. The same goes for K20D

Very sharp pictures indeed Mike - did you take these shots with the sigma 100-300?

I'm at work right now, but it definitely wasn't a 100% crop; more like 50% (1:2). With planes, it's best to get most of the frame filled by them, and do the cropping on the spot so as to speak

Thanks for the comments.
Replying to myself: now that I look at my picture once more, I find that my colours have watered down so much it's almost black and white... Is there something i need to do i particular to keep my colours as much as possible when resizing an image and saving it as jpg?

Does this picture strike you as sharp? I post-processed as follows included +10 saturation, adjustment of levels, unsharp mask 50%, radius 1, threshold 0. This is a typical workflow for this type of pictures that i found here (Sharpening - Jid Photo)
Your comments are welcome
Also, i find that the saving my PEG file to a JPG file with maximum quality 12, my colours are very bleak once published on the web...
Thanks

I was wondering if there was a Pentax tele out there that matches the flexibility of a 100-400L and quality of optics?

Hi all
Coming from a Nikon D50, I bought a K200D last week. I had actually bought a Sony A700 (:o), but it was so expensive that I was left without any money for lenses:fedup: So I had the option of returning it and I opted for the K200D after a week of analyzing budget DSLRs... This Pentax cost me 3 times less and left me with enough money to buy 3 lenses. I've taken some shots yesterday at Zaventem airport with the DA55-300 lens. So far, I'm quite satisfied with it and i managed to get quite a few shots. And i love the feeling of standing in the midst of Nikonians and Canonians with the big bodies and tubes...
Looking forward to interact with you
Here are some of my favourite pictures pp in LR2

Well i made up my mind and took the K200D + some normal DA lenses and 1 prime (50 1.4). Can't wait to take pictures but the weather won't let me for now.
About the colours pushed to limit: yes indeed they all are like that, but the effect is very nice though imo, matter of personal taste i guess

Hello all,
I'm still trying to make up my mind whether to buy Pentax or Canon. I have no real experience with either of them, only with a Nikon D50 that I have used for the last 2 years and which i've just sold.
When I look at this site: PENTAX Photo Gallery, and i look at the colours, my mouth just falls open. So my question is: are these pictures very post processed, or are these pretty much the colours one gets out of the camera?
If it's the latter case, I'd make up my mind very fast
Thanks in advance

I just looked at your pictures on picasa. They are amazingly good considering that these are taken with a 300 lens. How much did you crop the shots? 100%? Thanks to these pictures you have convinced me to buy a K200D instead of the sony A200 with the 70-300 SSM (€700).
