Yes,
They seem to have handled our problems well.
My 50/1.8 with the weird spots was also replaced promptly.
The 24-105 that I received new with internal dust was also replaced.
Good after sales support so far.
I hope they have solved the issues in manufacturing if any because it can't be cheap handing out new lenses like this.

Yes, I would definitely go for an equivalent of that Sony lens. Preferably with OIS to combat the IBIS wobble when I do video.
I got rid of my 20-60 when I bought my 24-105. It's a great lens for the money but I prefer a constant aperture.
